Totally mis-sold this hotel. Firstly, avoid Room 218 like the plague: when I turned the light off, the fire exit (which is in the room, strangely) is lit up for safety. This means the room as bright as hell. I went down to change room, but it was full. So, I was given a black bin bag to cover it… so climbed up on the furniture, dismantled the light unit and covered it. The manager was going to call me to apologise, but never did. The fact they rent this room out and INTENTIONALLY choose to impact a guest’s stay is bad form. Besides that, the bed is massively poor quality. Springs popping out of the mattress and creaking. The new flooring has been laid on top of old creaking floor boards, a practice which shows their willingness to cover up the problems and not fix them. Room 218 also had the kitchen for the hotel underneath it, so could hear the chefs talking until late. The restaurant and lobby may look nice, but it’s superficial. The rooms are totally rubbish and you’d get a better sleep at the Travelodge.
