Finsnes Gaard

The view is amazing with good outside space (not for small children due to waters edge). Very close to supermarket so convenient for self catering. Shower very powerful and referbished shower area nice. Quality of furniture and beds very old. Bedding very good. Kitchen equipment not clean and no wood for the fire as in description (we were told it was due to referbishment of the old house) you can buy wood at the supermarket which we did.. crockery and cutlery selection of mismatched items but enough. There is a washing machine which description did not mention so a bonus. Good WiFi. Overall ok but in need of a refresh for the price.

We stayed one night at Finsens Gaard. We had a 4 Bed Bedroom in the Mainbuilding. You don't have a reception there, the code for the Maindoor and your room will be sent to you by SMS. All was flawless. The room was on the second flor. It was clean and had a coffeemaker inside. There is a big balcony overviewing the island of Senja and the Fjord. The house is almost 200 years old, so be prepared for some steep and narrow staircases to get to your room. The room itself was bright and the beds have been comfortable. There are 2 showers / bathrooms. They are quite aged by now. Finsens is a bit south of Tromso and the brdige to the island of Senja is very close. It was a nice stay for one day, but because the age of the building, the quite small beds and the old infrastructure in the bathroom, for me the rooms in the maninbuilding are only an average accomodation.

Beautifull old building, Perfectly situated in the bay area. Great vintage a**osfere in the cottage but a perfectly modern apar**ent. We took the appartroom en-suite bathroom, everything was perfect.. the kitchen was well equiped, comfortable beds and nice cosy bathroom. We got the entrance code via email and sms, worked perfectly. There is a steap staircase to get to the appar**ent, but if the suitcases are small its not a problem (we decided to leave the big case in the car). Deffently gonna reccomend it.

The photos make it look as if this accommodation is at the edge of the earth. It is in fact on the edge of Finsnes which is certainly not a beautiful town. However, look left not right and you have a view of pure magic and tranquility . The apar**ent was beautiful and comfortable. We ate in and fortunately had seen that the hob was not working so bought the right food. It’s a bit unnerving not having a key but only a code which is texted to you on the day. Make sure your phone is charged! An exceptional base for some stupendous drives

Place badly needs new curtains. In my three week trip in Norway this place had the lightest room at night easily. Curtains are white which fills the room with light closer to summer solstice. It’s an older house so I wasn’t expecting things to be perfect but that should be a super easy thing to upgrade/replace

A nice place allthougt the scenery from the seahouses and the neighborhood was a little bit dissepointing. The seahouse apar**ents are spacious and quite new. There is a kitchen with full equipement and a washing machine in the bathroom was a nice surprise. Kids liked the balcony. Also the self check in worked well. Thank you!

Automatic check-in was easy but not that personal. Would be nice to meet the host of the house. The place is otherwise charming and modern but the bathroom is really old-fashioned and the shower floods every time you use it. The terrace by the sea is great but unfortunately the view is not that beautiful to every direction

I'm planning on writing a letter to the Orbitz/******* management about this stay. The property owners were very sweet and nice. However, the experience was mediocre. Take a look at the pic to the left. All you see are the beautiful cottages. When you read about the property description it doesn't speak about the 200 year house BEHIND the cottages. Therefore, its a bait and switch. I arrived and found this 200 year old home had three levels and my parents are in their 80's and we're on the 3rd floor with no elevator (obviously) and steep, windy steps that no one over 80 should be climbing. This is what should be described to prospective clients. Again, the property managment/owners were very nice and they changed my accommodation. I do hope Finsnes Gaard and Orbitz updates the description and pics to make it accurate as I would never have booked this had i known i was staying on the 3rd floor of an old 200 year old house.
