As a well travelled couple, we have come to expect certain standards from a 4 star and this hotel was missing a few basics and needed a few tweaks. No welcome refreshment upon arrival and I appreciate that we opted for Half board (no all inclusive option)we were then hustled into the bar restaurant for something to eat and drink and promptly charged for a pizza and beer. Down to the room (602) on the lowest level..nice clean room, the only option thru TUI was a room with terrace and garden view..no…it was a room with floor slabs, table and chair bit of greenery and a wall…it is no way near the photos advertising this type of room..internet connection lasts about 30 seconds and you have too keep rejoining, and no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, if you want a cuppa you have to go upstairs and pay for it..ohh and a fridge..no complimentary bottle of water..yes you have to pay for that also..nice pool area but it’s 7 euro a week to hire a towel. The pool is in desperate need of a clean, the oil slick on the surface is hard to ignore. No hotel or area information in the room and bbc news is on channel 301, and that’s the only english channel. The food is nice but take your armour as you are going too need it, the starter/anti pasta area is the size of a snooker table and you will be battling with italian and germans who have zero manners to try and get a morsel. It got so bad we forfeited the paid for evening meal and went into Forio every night instead. There are information leaflets dotted around reception and posters scattered about either in Italian (expected) or German… good luck finding anything in English, even the daily evening menu choice that is put on your breakfast table was consistently in German (annoying) A lot of people went to the supermarket for water and snacks including us. If this hotel is trying to entice the british holiday market, it needs to make a few tweaks and reign in the cash cow approach.
