Hotel 44 North

The hotel staff were extremely nice at check in and out. They also tried to be accommodating when we asked for pen an paper. However the stay was supposed to include pool access, which it did not. As well as continental breakfast, which was simply a jar of cereal, frozen sausage or eggs an a few bagels. There was only bananas for fruit an not many, first come first serve it seemed. They also had a very outdated waffle batter machine that would probably be very health questionable.. Our room was comfy, however the dirty qtip we saw next to the couch as soon as we walked in and the giant cobwebs in the corner were a little off putting.. After being in the area we probably wouldn't be back unless it was the last option..

This hotel is under construction, but the website doesn’t disclose that. The only thing mentioned was that breakfast wasn’t available because of renovations. The check-in desk is a window with a plywood “entryway.” The front entrance is unusable. I was instructed to enter via the side entrance. I had to walk under a man working on a lift. The door has no lock. The bottom 2 floors are completely under construction. The 3rd floor has been renovated but the hallway is extremely hot. The room was decent but the highway noise is bad. I decided not to stay. When I exited, a large piece of glass ended up on my foot. I brought it to the front window. The woman argued with me saying that the website is clear that there are renovations even as I was showing her the site on my phone. I showed her the glass piece and she pushed it back at me. There is no way this hotel is safe for occupancy.

When you look up this property, it does not say it is under complete construction and that the property is unsafe and a complete mess. We booked this hotel for the breakfast, the pool and the fitness room. There was none of that. After you book, a small tiny line is put through the pool and breakfast. But no fitness room. Either way, when I looked at the description, this property offered these things. Due to lack of space here is a SMALL list of what this property is like. Checked in to a window with plywood covering us only to be dripped on constantly. We were told they were just painting from 8 am to 8 pm. NOT TRUE. There was construction equipment, debris, wood blocking the only entrance to the building. There were nails/screws/wood all through the parking lot and blocking sidewalks. The elevator was broke one night and an employee rudely told us to just take the stairs. To the 3rd floor with an 8 month old and a stroller. Screws/nails and debris all throughout the stairwell. Dust everywhere. In order to get new towels, as ours smelt horrible, you had to go down the hall, outside, around the building to the literal window. Ice machine not working on our floor, had to go all the way to the 1st floor. No do not disturb signs. Side door had NO LOCK! My daughter stepped on a construction staple in her room, limited parking, dust, open wires, stairs full of debris, finally found a cart for luggage at the end of our trip. But it had been used by construction and was filthy

My husband and I booked our reservation online the day of our stay. We used my credit card to secure the reservation. When we arrived to check in, the front desk attendant told us we had to pay in cash because their system was down. She would not offer a discount for this inconvenience. When we checked the rates, the current rate was less than what we’d booked online. She didn’t care and said it was nothing she could do. She would not give us a receipt for our cash payment. When we asked to speak to a manager, she said he’d gone for the night. The next morning we addressed our concerns with another front desk employee that was still not helpful. When we asked for the manager, we were told he was not there, since he’d worked the night before. Really? The sheets appeared clean. The towels were thin. The water pressure was low. The WIFI service was poor. The windows were thin panes of glass. The noise from the highway was loud. Soooo, In a pinch for a rather inexpensive place to sleep compared to some of the nice hotels in town, stay here.

The first red flag was the unkempt landscaping, peeling paint and missing shingles on the exterior of the building. There was no one at the front desk just a white button to push. The front desk agent showed up after several minutes. She was pleasant and gave us keys to our room on the 3rd floor and apologized that elevator was not working. Our room was clean but the door was out of alignment and the light shined all around the edges. This was a former Comfort Inn that is now run down.

I stayed 4 nights at Hotel 44N as part of a bus tour. The condition of this establishment is terrible. Had I not been at the mercy of our tour group I wouldn't have stayed. The elevators we not working leaving a group of seniors to use the stairs. The carpets were disgusting. Furnishings in the rooms were missing in some rooms, while other rooms had dog hair all over the furniture. Some of the toilets didn't work properly, leaking onto the floors. No housekeeping services were available. Dirty Towels were to be left out in the hall and new were to be requested at the front desk. Often times the towel ran out leaving us without. The hotel was being run by two young men who were doing the best they could with what was available. No management was on site. I would not recommend this hotel.

I didn't do my research prior to booking my hotel room. I should've, next time, I will. The room was mediocre, the pillows were half pillows, and the bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in. I have the worst night sleep in a long time. I will not be returning. I couldn't wait for it to be over so I could go home. The pool wreaked of chlorine and the carpet and decor looked old. For the money spent I will spend it elsewhere next time, and get a much better room. Do not waste your money or time.
