I am sad to write this review, but feel I must. We are a seasoned timesharing family (10+ years), and this was our last exchange before our home resort is sold. Our last RCI points were expiring at the end of the month, so we decided to do a local staycation at Laurel Point Resort. The staff is really great and the rooms are spacious. We did not feel enclosed or on top of each other. The pool and sauna were good. The hot tub was green, so we didn't use it. The game room is closed, so the only activities are outdoor ping pong, large jenga, horseshoes, and cornhole. All pretty worse for wear. Didn't not check out the fitness center, as the mountains and the town were the exercise for this trip. Why two stars? Glad you asked. We checked in late Saturday (no fault of the staff--our late arrival) and found the beds to be pretty hard (harder than the average hotel bed). If you have any sensitivity to hard beds, just be aware. We requested an eggcrate pad from the staff the next day (didn't really much). When we checked in, the unit wasn't very clean, and surfaces were sticky. We didn't get more than 3-4 hours of sleep any night due to how humid the room was (75%--photo taken and all). Everything was damp and dewey. Maintenance replaced the filter, but hasn't done a whole lot). The kitchen has ants and maintenance brought traps, but the ants are only interested in anything but the traps. We are very clean and wipe down surfaces, but due to the humidity, the lysol wipes moisture isn't evaporating. Beds and pillows are dewey at bedtime, almost as if the sheets are half wet from the dryer. Floors are sticky, everything is damp and dewey and sticky to the touch. We were in a unit near the road, so lots of loud revving and honking throughout the night as the resort is on the edge of a pretty sharp turn, and people can't see the safety mirrors at night, so they honk to alert other drivers. As seasoned timeshare travelers, I brought my own robust sound machine, which has taken a dent out of the noise, but it is still easy to be awoken. The side walls seem to be pretty solid and we don't hear noise coming from the sides, but good grief, the walking from upstairs is awful. Thankfully, we have an older couple above us, so not running children. You can hear their TV/music through the floor. The shower in the pool locker room is only cold water. We were told it takes 15-20min for hot water. So, if you plan to shower after swimming or rinse off, you'll be pretty cold. Y'all, I hate to write negative reviews. Our experience (timeshare 3-4times a year or more on our RCI exchanges), has been enough that after 2hrs of sleep last night, we are checking out early and going home. Only the second time ever (once in Italy where the culture was party until 2am and threat of airline strike home). We are getting out of timeshares completely as the maintenance fees are going up and it's frustrating to be locked into a week somewhere where you
