Hotel Bologna

Booked this hotel for one night to be near the railway station . Fortunately for my sister and I the booking had been cancelled by mistake which turned out to be a God send Although I cannot comment on the rooms I think travellers should be aware of the approach to the hotel The photographs tell it all .Quite scary in the dark for anyone .We were lucky and managed to book into the Continental Hotel nearer to the station which wasexcelkent.

Charming, modest, family run hotel with a very responsive, friendly, and thoughtful staff! They helped us park our car and exit which was not easy as the property is within the ZTL and the driveway to the parking area is very narrow that you must retract your side mirrors. But once you park, the car is securely locked behind iron gates and further protected with security cameras - so it is well worth the effort! Just keep in mind only small cars will fit. (We had a small Renault Megane and just fit through the alley, so double check with the property first!) Please note that parking is also €15 per day extra. The location couldn’t be better! Right in the center of the historic district, just steps from the Palazzo Reale and the breathtaking Basilica della Santissima Annunziata del Vastato!! The hotel also gave us a map of the area and highlighted all the important sites and gave us a great traditional restaurant recommendation, which was really helpful since we arrived just before 8pm and many kitchens close around 9:30pm. I only wish they offered breakfast, but they informed us that it is being planned for the future. Plenty of great places to eat nearby! A great choice when visiting Genova!

This is a fabulous 2 star hotel with great staff and excellent location. Immaculately clean and wonderfully quiet. Tea and coffee making facilities. Fresh bottled water supplied every day. Pretty much everything that you need in the room. Loved it!

A genuine family run hotel in a 15C building. As it is medieval, you won’t find a lift so be prepared to tone those glutes and calves and improve your cardio fitness! We stayed on the 4th floor for 3 nights in a beautifully decorated room with a lovely bathroom. Anna who is one of the owners is very welcoming and full of local knowledge. She mapped out a walk for us that took in all the sights and gave as excellent recommendations for nearby restaurants. The hotel is only rated 2 stars because there is no views to speak of and no restaurant on the premises but for a few nights it is the perfect place, set in the heart of the historic area, and only a short walk from the railway station. Highly recommend Hotel Bologna.

Perfect location. Very friendly and helpful owners. The narrow alley to the hotel was a challenge, but we were guided through properly. Breakfast not possible at the hotel, but plenty of options around the corner. Unfortunately, the airco was broken, so the night was hot. Still a good experience, making it possible to experience a little of Genova in te short time we had.

Such a welcome from Anna who was so helpful and friendly and recommended all the sights to see in our short visit. Hotel really clean and central. We would definitely stay there again. Room was modern and bed comfortable

Situated in a quiet square in the old town and within walking distance to Genova principe Station, the University and Royal Palace this little gem was a true find. Rooms were comfortable , clean and modern and our host , Anna super friendly and a mine of information regarding trips , siteseeing and the best places to eat. Really enjoyed our stay as Genova is a really beautiful and underrated city , convenient for days out to portofino and the villages of cinque terre.

Great hotel very near to Principe Station and old town. Anna greeted us and gave us lots of ideas for sightseeing and fantastic recommendations for evening meals in truly authentic Genovan restaurants. The room was spotlessly clean with new refitted bathroom and quirky decorations. Everything worked! I would definitely stay here again and recommend anyone who wants a reasonably priced, convenient hotel in a lovely city, to stay here.
