We spent 1 week at the Bluserena resort in Calaserena (Sardinia), but overall we were disappointed with the resort, especially compared to other similar 4 stars we have been to. 1. The organisation was messy and sometimes overly-complicated: although some was partly due to Covid measures, in general we felt that they were poorly organised for example the check in process (you have to do 2 queues, one to “register”, one to check in), the main restaurant (multiple queues for different food and they don’t even give you a tray to carry your plates, that can be a lot especially when you have kids), and even the payment method doesn’t make any sense (you need to use a special pre-charged card to pay for drinks etc, which you can top up with cash or card at the very place where you get the drinks from…what’s the point?! but you cannot use it everywhere, I.e. the shop in the piazza); the swimming pool closes between 1pm and 3pm, so the staff can have (a 2 hours!!) break, then it shuts again at 6.30pm… And finally they ask people to “check out” the day before you leave and to return the pre-paid card; I Went to the reception the day prior to my departure and they told me there was nothing more to pay for, and said I could keep the card until the last day, but then they phone me back 1 hour later to tell me they actually forgot about some extras I had to pay so I had to make a second trip to the reception ….not a big deal but still annoying. 2. The structure felt “dated” and not always well looked after: the ground floor rooms don’t have any windows (especially in the bathroom, not even an extractor fan) and not even a door to separate the spaces if sleeping more than 2; the public toilets (especially the ones in the main restaurant) stink so bad that not even my 6 years old wanted to go in then; the swimming pool is frankly disappointing as it gets dirty quite quickly, particularly the kids one; the beach plus umbrella and beds not really worth paying extra for (beds are just different in colour and the umbrellas don’t give you any actual extra shade….) And finally, Il Gusto restaurant is just the space behind the reception where you do the registration on arrival….not really a “fancy” alternative to the main cantine!! 3. Entertainment: The beach is NOT a relaxing place, as there are constantly group games Lead by an entertainer who uses a very loud microphone and if you’re that unlucky to sit in first row (which you pay extra for), they come and take over some of your space to play the games and loud music….a total nightmare of you want to relax; Even the evening shows are frankly quite poor and definitely not worth a 4 star resort… we even found mini club for kids not great, some of the staff doesn’t look they can be really bothered and the activities are not always fun and thought through (my kids hated it!) 4. They sometimes enforce rules on people (I.e. you have to wear a head cuff in the pool, you have just short of 1 hour to have your meal
