Excellent family, down-to-earth hospitality. Great experiences catering to a range of interests. We did the tour with the San people, horse ride, game drives, and saw the predator project. We learnt a lot about life in the Kalahari. The Bowers are fantastic hosts and knowledgeable guides who were very happy to answer all our questions. Highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to see, experience, and learn about the Kalahari.

Many lodge claim to be "family-owned and family-managed" resorts but this one truly lives these values. We spent two wonderful evenings watching the rhinos with Neeltjie, Anri and Tiaan. It was a rare privilege to learn about the region and the culture from a sixth generation descendant of the Dorsland trek from South Africa. And watching Anri converse with the bushmen in Naro was awe-inspiring! For a horse rider like me, cantering through the bush with rhinos and antelopes with an absolute delight. The visit to Grassland Safari Lodge was a unique experience!

We had a wonderful experience at Grasslands Safari Lodge. The owners are exceptionally well organized and kind. The accommodation is lovely and the environment is superb. The waterhole in front of the lodge is a wonderful source of amazement and also of tranquility as all sorts of animals come down to drink throughout the day and evening. It is very peaceful. The owners have an incredible depth of knowledge gathered over many decades and even generationally on this land. Respectful contact with San Bush people was an absolute highlight that I will take joyfully into the rest of my life. The food was delicious and care was taken to cater to special dietary needs. A great deal of care and awareness has gone into taking care of the wild animals in this area. Overall this was an amazing experience and I highly recommend it to all people wanting to have a deep immersion in Ghanzi, in the Kalahari.

We had a fantastic stay at Grassland and will definitely be back. The activities are tailored to your preferences and the length of your stay to make the most of your time there. Food and service were also very good.

I love the bush. If you have a chance to spend time in the bush at Grasslands you will have an experience with good memories to last. We saw rhino, up close and almost too personal and too many other things to list. Time with the San was a delight to us. This is the "real deal" and you will feel privileged to be here. I cannot recommend the camp/lodge too highly.

If you want to meet rhino's, this is the place to go to ! We came by car from Central Kalahari Game Reserve end the Grassland Lodge is the perfect place to get rid of the sand. Neetjie, Ian and their San crew are great hosts and you will enjoy every minute. It is unique to relax in the swimming pool and watch the rhino's play on the grass next to the pool...

I almost didn't stay here because there hadn't been any reviews for several years, wasn't sure if they were even open. They are. We were looking for a lodge in Western Botswana where we could experience the desert and meet some San people. did we ever. The lodge is more like a guest house, we were the only guests and had meals with the owners and family every day. There are nice detached chalets. I can't say enough about our experience. we had always wanted to visit the Bushman but only had a short window, staying for two nights. They had some amazing young Bushman trackers take us out and track down a rhino right to the middle of the bush. they showed us how they live, how they use ostrich eggs for water, how they start a fire, roasted nuts etc etc etc. I would say this isn't for people who want a fancy hotel or a resort with room service, but if you are an adventurous type, and have a couple days, this is an enriching stop full of memorable experiences. only stayed two nights, only one full day, but one of our most memorable stays doing our entire month long trip to Africa The biggest challenge is just getting there, the road is very sandy and you have to have a good 4x4 to get there. We tried to drive to the owner's house which was only 7 km away and got stuck in the sand a couple hundred feet from the road. Fortunately the farmer right there knows them and let us park our car, and called them to come get it. Do check on the road conditions before you go and make appropriate arrangements. If you're going to Safari in mound, this is only a two and a half hour drive and easy trip in a rented car. Well worth the effort as it is totally different from the delta. There are other nice lodges inside the Kahalari national park, but we didn't have the time to go, and this is much more reasonably priced

Our stay at the campsite of Grassland Bushman Lodge was very nice. We enjoyed watching the wild dogs (magnificent) and the lions near the lodge. The campsite is some km away from the lodge, but has a real bush feeling and had all the campsite-comfort we needed (toilet, showers, braai, covered kitchensink. The diner we took at the lodge (we were picked up and brought back to the campsite) was perfect and after dinner we had a nice evening with a campfire near the waterhole (lots of animals, incl rhino). The lodge owners are very friendly and the lodge-lapa and swimmingpool are a haven for tired campers :-) There is a direct (sand) road from the lodge to CKGR Xade Gate ! We recommend this place and will certainly come back when we are in the neighbourhood : especially to enjoy more of the offered activities !! Too many gates to open and close in way to Ganzi. I think I counted 15... maybe. Best way to travel is from Xade Gate. If you find that gate closed, just open it. Very good prices for safaris. Best experience with rhino chasing.
