It was truly fabulous stay!!! We've been deeply impressed: The best view on the Como lake and one of the best views ever!!! Service personnel – friendly and caring, with that personal touch that you won’t get in most of the big hotels. You couldn’t get the better value for the very decent at the Como lake price! Great location, close to train station and lake. Hotel is small and a little tired, in need of a facelift, it offers an adequate breakfast, we had to ask for hot water for a cup of tea each morning as this wasn't readily available to help yourself. We chose half board option which is taken in the adjoining pizza restaurant. There is a 3 course menu offered and the food was very average, the pizzas were amazing though! The staff in the restaurant were extremely over- stretched and there were long waits for food with some drinks requests completely over-looked. The restaurant staff worked extremely hard and there efforts were admirable given the staff shortage problem. Special mention to Concetto and Francesca who were both very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Rooms were tired and in need of renovation, as was the public area I would rate this as an average 3 star hotel, but we had an amazing holiday and it is good value for money.

The room I occupied as a single with view of the lake was great. My remarks concern the poor quality of lunch and dinner. The risotto was bland and tasteless despite spoonfuls of parmesan cheese. It would have been easy to add some spices and pepper. The salad with its dressing of olive oil and vinegar from a sachet was not good. At dinner I had fish & soft chips, no cooked vegetables are available, only a salad. The potatoe chips should have been fried longer to make them crispy. Make melanzane parmigiani. The red wine offered gave me a stomache ache. By all means, stay, but eat elsewhere.

We had a mixed experience at the hotel. Firstly, the hotel is great. The staff at the reception and concierge is very nice and helpful. The room is comfortable and since we took the lake view balcony room it was amazing. They have a very nice bar at the hotel with a nice poolside with some amazing views of lake Como. The location is also convenient just 10 mins from the train station. The only bad experience I had was today afternoon at their bar. They have a very weird rule that if you want to sit at the bar you have to order minimum 1 drink per person. I understand this rule is fair for outsiders but I think this rule shouldn’t be applicable for hotel guests. Anyways, my wife and I were sitting and the waiter came saying we cannot sit if we don’t order drinks. (This is when half the bar was empty btw). We told him no worries just bring us water, we’ll have that and immediately leave. First he refused but after that he said ok. But he didn’t bring us water for 25 minutes while he was still serving guests who even came after us. When I went up to complain at the bar, Daniele at the bar started shouting at me saying I need to be patient because it takes time! Huh? How much time for a glass of water? Then he started saying you should order 2 drinks instead of just 1. I think this completely ruined my experience of the hotel and this is not how guests should be treated. Especially when you’re charging around 800 USD per night. I mean , common! I even went up to complain at the reception about this but they didn’t really seem to care

Stayed here on a recent motorcycle trip. As we were travelling on motorbikes we make a point of contacting the hotels in advance to check that the restaurant on site will be open. We had a confirmation email advising that the restaurant would be open. On check in we were advised that the bar and restaurant was closed, however there is a bar opposite and a good restaurant a short walk down the road. The hotel is easy to find on a main road and we were able to park our motorcycles in the underground garage. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and well appointed. The advice about the restaurant down the road was very good and the we had great meal there. However on our return to the hotel we were asked to pay our bill as the manager/owner wanted a lay in the next morning. This meant we had to drag our fellow travellers out of bed to pay as they had returned to the hotel ahead of us. The next morning, all of the other guests were settling their bills as they checked out.

Felt the need to leave a review, which is rare but because of the amount of research I did prior to our trip to Lake Como and reading the many positive reviews of this hotel, my only hope is that this helps someone spending the same time and energy before their travels. You’ll read within other reviews that the view and location are incredible, this is true, but that’s about all the good that is offered. While the rooms are old, the beds are pretty uncomfortable and the bathrooms resemble a motel, the worst offering (or lack of offering) is the customer service. The reception does not answer the phone, ever. If you get them to answer buy a lottery ticket. One evening we departed for dinner in Bellagio and noticed that the last ferry returning back to the hotel was right before 8pm, much too early. We inquired about how to get back to the hotel after our meal and the receptionist informed us that we could take the ferry to a neighboring town (2 miles away) and to call the hotel when we were on the way and they would arrange a taxi, perfect plan if the hotel answers the phone. Lake Como travel is not easy, the ferry schedules are inconsistent and you aren’t able to easily access the best parts without a vehicle, the hotel made zero effort to assist us in transportation needs and when we would inquire about direction, recommendations, etc there was hardly any given. It became so bad that we inquired about a concierge, but the receptionist informed us that she was there to serve as such…. Lacking qualifications to say the least. We paid $350/night, we understand this is likely a steal of a deal given the hotels views and location and that’s fair, but for this hotel to be classified as a four-star property makes me question the validity of the system and if you’re still reading this review, pay the extra $100-150/night and stay somewhere else for the service alone. You’ll be glad you did.
