Hotel Brisas Guardalavaca

Went here in 2017 and returned in 2018. Loved the place and sad you can no longer fly from uk. Met a family who we are still friends with. Visited plantations and their home in Banes. Also visited the fishing village. It’s easily the two best holidays we ever had and the people and area are both beautiful despite how poor they are. Would love to go back if they start flights from UK again.

I Love Brisas, I have been 10 times and the staff are always amazing and helpful. Arasay is serving me the most delicious beverages tonight in the Havana Club Bar. Amazing selection of things to do and try, and the staff are the reason we keep returning to the same resort.

I visited Brisas Guardalavaca in October. I recommended this hotel. People are very friendly specially Yamilet Barrera in the reservation desk for the a la Carta restaurant where she is responsables To make sure that people Enjoy the delicious food at la carta restaurant. Yamilet is well knowledge of providing information where to go in the resort. Very friendly and great attitude at the time.

Spent from Oct 5th to 12th. As always we had an amazing trip. I went with two special ladies and a for birthday boy 60th( lol). We arrived and front reception staff was friendly and efficient as always. Our rooms were ready, Thanks to Raquel, who is an amazing, super friendly and always helpful. Love her hugz and her bright smile! She always makes you feel warm and welcome. It was my 18th trip to this resort, it has some amazing improvements in the past few yrs and still improvements happening while we were there but with little to no inconvenience for the clients and guests.. Food was tasty, although shortages are still noticeable we didn't starve , we always found something we liked. They were some shortages with mixes for the drinks but really we all found something cold and creative. Pool was clean and refreshing always have fun. Thank Leandro for taking care of us ! Havana bar was great in the evening and Arasay is a breath of fresh air and makes the best Alexander's. Mario, Chuchos, Carlos, are always the best Thank you Chuchos for a wonderful birthday celebration at the Italian restaurant and to the wonderful staff there for making it's special for our friend. Cuban restaurant for breakfast always a please. To Dani, Betty Ana Aray for the pleasant morning. Thank you to the Entertainment team for keeping us engaged. Susana, Yilena, Jay, Juliette, Anji Pedro, Angel, Miguel, Alex, Juan and Henri. Thanks for taking a moment to chat and makes us smile. Henri you have a great team and team you have a great Manager. Still missing the lobby bar at reception. Aris and Alex for the great conversations! Please remember to treat the staff with respect and don't blame them or mistreat them for the shortages that are not the fault of theirs. They come and smile with you every day! I feel as if I have PTSD from this vacation. I brought my mom, aunt and wife and the worst happened. My elderly mother who is 4’9 tried to get out of the shower/tub and shattered her shoulder falling because the tub is at least 3’ high! Keep in mind there was no grab bars for safety. The only good thing was the nurse. Even though she has limited access to medication she looked after my mom every day and made sure she was safe. The trip to the hospital actually made me fear for our safety. The “ ambulance” broke down for 2 hours and the hospital was a cesspool of god knows what. Therefore no one in our party was in the mood to go and do anything so we stayed in and watched CNN as that was the only English Channel and the villas we stayed in had no wifi. The fall happened 4 days in, so here’s a review of the 4 days prior. There were no actual drinks, as in cocktails. All they had was one kind of juice and liquor. Absolutely no pop anywhere on the resort. Therefore ironically we couldn’t enjoy a CUBA Libre!!!! The food was very subpar. In fact I believe that most of the “meat” was spam. Me and my mom went in 2006, then my wife and I went in 2014 then we decided to go back for our anniversary exactly 10 years later. I don’t remember it being so awful back then. Although since then we have travelled almost all of the Caribbean and South America so maybe our standers are higher than before, but I don’t think so, this is at best awful at worst a safety hazard. Also the wonderful nurse gave us a wheelchair but most of the resort isn’t wheelchair accessible. That being said, the staff was very friendly and helpful, it’s not their fault they work in the worst resort in Cuba. I asked my wife to take notes about all the things that were a concern while still staying there so it’s fresh in her memory, here’s what she noted: Hard beds Easy slip off high tub - 3.6 ft high tub Not always hot water 1l water first two days - ask and can get more Spotty internet- some outside villa on pourch Not load large data , games and video apps even in hotel lobby Download lots to watch and find games that don’t need internet Door sticks Not much eatable food Bring cup, drink sanitation’s fews Store limited

We stayed twice at brisas both a couple of years apart. Cuba is a special place not just for its people, the stunning beaches but also its history. Cuba leaves you wanting to learn more. The staff at Brisas recognised us on our second trip which was so nice. The omelettes were great on a morning as well as fresh fruit and the buffet had something gorgeous everyone. We went off exploring with a local guy who took us out in his lovely car, we visited a school, and lots more. We did lots of trips with our holiday company which were all good. I’d return to Cuba again and again sadly there doesn’t seem to be any flights from the UK anymore
