This hotel could not have a more perfect location with relationship to the mountains. There are some base lifts for Happo-one practically around the corner, and the gondola is just up the street. There are lots of restaurants and cafés nearby too.
It’s a bit of a hike from the train station, but it’s very close to the bus station. I had a hard time getting a taxi from the train station so I had to walk. I’ve heard some hotels can arrange taxis for you, but I didn’t ask and I don’t know if they offer the service.
I don’t speak Japanese, and their English level was very low, but they were very considerate of this, and made every effort to understand me and my needs. All the staff members were actually very kind and helpful.
My room was quite small, but that was what I had booked, and it suited me perfectly. They also offer a locker for ski equipment in the basement, which was a welcome surprise.
The onsen, was great to have on site, and I knew about the onsen tax, but they didn’t charge me until the end, and I wish they would’ve at least told me at the start. Had I not known it would’ve been a surprise.
All in all, I thought it was a great place, especially for someone like me who was on a budget. I would absolutely stay there again!
