I’m so glad I didn’t read into most of the bad reviews online and went with experiencing it myself and what a fantastic experience it was!! The setting and scenery is just incredible the whole area is!! But the beaches and sea water is literally like no other. I had one minor issue with the hotel which accommodated me brilliantly and upgraded my room which was really really lovely of them and very unexpected but seriously cannot fault the staff there one bit…from reception to the gate security too the dining room waiters and cleaners amazing the only one thing I had an issue with is the onsite mini-market not really catering to customers just mainly hats and souvenirs and the odd essential if needed no coffee or sugar things like that but the staff there are simply miserable and treat you like everything is an effort and generally made me feel like they were being put out of their way so didn’t shop there as the next village along was a lovely 20minute walk with stunning views along the route. The hotel is situated abit remote but public transport is literally pickup and drop off right outside the gates but reception are always on hand too help Literally loved my time here and would definitely recommend and return myself

Lovely clean hotel right on the beach. Staff friendly and helpful. We stayed B&B and walked to next village or taxi to nearby other villages to experiebce local cuisine and culture. Shame 80's night and Reggae night at the hotel just consisted of changing the music in the bar. Gyros amazing

There are many reasons why we persevere and always choose this location, fiercely I could say. Because we always felt extraordinarily good, from all points of view. After a year of work and school, we seek complete relaxation to recover both physically and spiritually. When we want to determine the future destination for summer vacation, we honestly gave up looking for anything else, invariably the decision comes quickly, we go home to Greece, we go home to Dimitrios, Nonita, Pavlos, Zouriko, Konstantina and all the other friends from Alexander the Great. Why Alexander the Great? First of all, because of the wonderful people, then because of the special hotel conditions, because of the extraordinary meal services, not least for the award-winning Blue Flag beach, and why not admit it, for the special offers received year after year. "Best value for all my money" is what I look for in the purchases I make, it is what I have always received at Alexander the Great. I would be crazy to throw my money in a place where I don't feel well, where everything is not ok for me and my family. Because we love Alexander the Great, because we are welcomed with warmth and friendship, because we enjoy the wonderful Greek cuisine, for the tranquility on the beach, for the crystalline Aegean Sea, for the sunrise caught from the balcony in an unforgettable view, there are as many reasons to return year after year to this paradise. And why not admit it, we always come back with pleasure and thanks to the offers we received year after year. Special price offer for the entire package of services, accommodation with half board, internet and beach set for the three of us. I gave up long ago the so-called offers from different travel agencies, I had the unpleasant surprise to receive a price 65% higher than what I had already paid by booking directly at Alexander the Great, I received a super offer from a famous travel and reservation site, offer with double price compared to what I had already paid directly at the hotel. Why these huge price differences required for the same services? For us as tourists, these agencies and sites have long lost clients. The hotel was nice and the facilities were good at the pool, restaurant and on the beach. Unfortunately, I bought some gyros from the beach bar on the first day and was ill for three days, the food area was uncovered and had flies on it. I complained but the hotel did nothing.

Excellent staff (absolutely everyone). Loved my 3rd stay there. The beach is amazing beach. One of the best in Halkidiki. Definitely would come back for another stay. Breakfast option were good and I liked the taverna lots. Excellent greek night with live music organised by the manager. Thanks to everyone.

Excellent. Fab food, huge selection. Pool and beach amazing. Lovely, English speaking staff. Had small single room, sunny balcony. Cheap cabs to next villages. Very quiet..not for party animals. Can hire sun loungers on beach...bit expensive. Also boat hire to left along beach

What an amazing holiday, quiet and out of the way. Taxi journey to tourist areas very cheap. Staff went above and beyond with a special meal for our son (thank you Vecki). Staff go above and are always happy to help. Rooms are clean and well maintained ( we had 3 rooms) breakfast and evening meals had lots of options to choose from. Pool area clean and lots of sun beds, the beach is white sands and lots of sun beds available, a small cost at reception. Beach side bar and food available for snacks during the day.

Location was nice but a bit remote, room/cleaning was fine, the only issue with this hotel was the canteen, and I do mean canteen, it was like being served at school by the dinner ladies. I asked for the pork and got served three ladles of peas quick as a flash! Couldn’t make the server understand want I wanted. Hovering with ladle primed when you are looking and deciding what to eat! Very off putting. You have to wait for them to give you lumps of butter or pots of honey. Just let me put on my plate and get what I want to eat! Meal times are not suppose to be stressful. Puddings very rich, no ice cream. Every other hotel does a proper buffet, why not this one? The waste is high as servers pile on food, two rashers I want of bacon become two scoops. In the morning you queue for fried eggs to be cooked (not always available) then to bacon queue, rarely fried tomatoes, mushrooms, no hash browns. You can take your own bread, butter and honey or jam is in a different place. One very inefficient toaster, 4 takes to get it right. Food is mildly warm. Drinks expensive.

Just back from a week at The Alexander the Great hotel. PROs:- Lovely friendly hard working staff in main hotel Clean comfortable room and beds were great. Beautiful beach and easy access lift down to it Large well maintained complex. Bar,Taverna, restaurant,pool,mini market on site Nice walks to Kripogi along the beach and Kalithera. Afitos is a beautiful place to visit 10 euro taxi each way and well worth a day out. The taxis are very reliable and easy to book. The star attraction is the hotel cat. I hope he gets looked after in the winter months. CONs:- Food in the buffet restaurant lukewarm and limited choice for vegetarians. It's not nice eating cold pasta every night. This issue kept coming up when we spoke to other guests. We were not fans of being served at the buffet either. Queueing for butter was a pain.Why not put it next to the bread? Drinks are very pricey. Everyone we spoke to said the same. It is cheaper to get a taxi to Kripogi and drink there. As a result the bar was empty and lacked atmosphere which is a shame as it is a very nice bar. If you lowered the prices a little I'm sure it would be full in the evenings. 9 euro for a spirit with 4 euro for a mixer. 5 euro for soft drinks. The "themed" nights consisted of them playing a cd in the bar so limited entertainment other than the Greek dancing evening. Minimarket opening times were hit and miss. Have to pay for "extras" We have never been anywhere else that charged for table tennis.. 5 euro. Pool bar on the beach. Staff disinterested and food awful we only went once! A few tweaks would make this a fantastic place to stay.
