Because of the host - Perfume, I really want to say we loved this place, but Perfume really is the only thing propping it up that is otherwise quite poor and massively over priced. Perfume is a truly lovely person. So kind and friendly and welcoming. She has a permanent smile and is always going above and beyond to help you out. She will put herself out just to help you however she can at no benefit to her. Because of her, I feel bad for the review but a wonderful person can't undo a bad hotel. The location is amazing. However, the rest of the hotel and stay is a bit of a disaster and at about £35 per night, it's unbelievably over priced. The rooms are very very bad. Botched paint work, bare wires, missing bulbs, broken shower, leaking sink, mouldy fridge, 1 pillow each, in desperate need of decorating. For £10 per night I've experienced much much better high quality stays, so £35 per night for these rooms is quite odd. When people smoke in the alleyway, the smoke comes straight up into the room. Currently (late december) they have building works next door that start before 8am and use industrial drills and lump hammers that vibrate through the room and with ear plugs in is still exceptionally loud. The host can turn your power off from outside the room so if you leave your work laptop plugged in uploading files whilst you go and get a coffee, you come back to your power having been isolated, laptop dead and failed upload for work. We were kindly invited to a family meal on Chris**as day by our host, but she spent the whole meal shouting into her phone before excusing herself and leaving us at the table. The hot water doesn't last long enough for 2 people to shower. So you have to pick who showers at night and who showers in the morning. The WiFi router was actually inside our room and even still it was terrible. The wall mounted TV was non functional and looked like just a place to put the WiFi router on top of. The breakfast would be wonderful for 1 morning. But it's the same every day and you choose ONE of either eggs OR pho OR pancakes then you get coffee or juice etc. Once you've had 1 of each option for each morning, you're back to the beginning again. For some reason a vietnamese woman shouts, screams and cries almost every night just outside the hotel. The directions to the hotel are very weird and convoluted when actually it's so simple. Forget the weird alleyway stuff and the alternative number to get dropped off at. It's number 81C and you walk straight into the travel shop which is also the hotel.
