Millstone Country Inn

This is a really good place to stay for a walking weekend. Excellent location and the nearby town is vibrant and fun to visit. The staff at the hotel are super friendly and can’t do enough for you. Food and beer both good. Overall we had a brilliant weekend

Staff were very friendly and welcoming. We had 2 dogs with us which was no issue at all and they were well catered for! Breakfast was perfect, tasty with great service! Room was comfortable, lovely shower, need some TLC which staff said is happening soon. Would highly recommend!

The place is cosy with accommodating staff. It was a busy Sunday so we understood the bit of delay however the food was really good. Big parking space outside. Very clean toilets. Dogs are allowed inside. The place is just 20mins from the city center

Such a lovely pub in a really pretty area. We had a 1 night stay with friends for a birthday. Claire was really welcoming and helped us with anything we needed - nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast the next day was lovely and great value for money. We’d def stay again! Thanks so much.

The Millstone is a lovely pub in a beautiful location. I stayed here with friends for our 50th birthdays. Our stay here was perfect, the room was great, the breakfast was scrumptious and the service was excellent. Claire went over and above to ensure we had a perfect stay.

Went for a Friday night meal with the family. Food was delicious! We all chose pies, and there was quite a selection to choose from which were beautifully cooked and served by Claire, the new landlady who was very friendly. The Millstone is a real hidden gem!

I have just been to visit this pub for some afternoon lunch I ordered a vegetarian lasagne and my friend ordered a beef one I am assuming that it was the bar manager that brought out the food to us as she was not wearing the uniform everyone else was. She said " veggie lasagne" I said that'll be mine thank you She passed it over, I started to eat it, and remarked to my friend that it was strange, its usually made with vegetables or lentils, and it must be qourn mince My friend began to eat hers and we quickly realised that she had the veggie one and I had the meat I was mortified, as this wasn't just a oh I fancy a vegetarian option, I don't eat meat, and haven't for many years for very personal reasons. I went to find the lady and explained that she had given me meat and that it was very upsetting She just said, oh sorry why don't you swap I asked if we could actually have the dinner we ordered, she took the plates away 15 mins later a young lad came out and plonked them on the table and walked off. We were then ignored. At no point did anyone ask if we were happy with our food, apologise for giving me meat or even try to smooth things over with a good will gesture I am really shocked and saddened at the level of customer service and complete indifference to what had happened The pub was beautiful and is advertised as 4 star, this experience and total lack of customer service skills were shocking My friend is a landlady herself and was absolutely disgusted with the service we received I wouldn't have written a review at all if they had treated us better or acknowledged our upsetting experience Such a shame

Stayed on a dinner and breakfast basis and really enjoyed all aspects of the stay. Food was good honest pub food which we really enjoyed. Room was clean and comfortable with everything needed. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice. Paul the manager was friendly and helpful a really nice guy hope he stays on. Only thing they needed was a bit of music playing as it was a very quiet evening.

We meet in Hathersage as a mid way point for us and had been disappointed recently with other places in the area so decided to try The Millstone. The welcome was warm and friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon there. The service was good and the lunch sandwiches were well presented and tasty and the offer of coffee and cake is a nice touch. We will be returning.
