„We had an exceptional family stay at the Toyako Manseikaku Hotel Lakeside Terrace! The views of Lake Toya from our room were breathtaking.The buffet dinner and breakfast were fantastic, offering a huge variety of delicious food for everyone. A major highlight for us was relaxing in the onsen with its stunning lake view. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay, making us feel very welcome. The rooms were clean and comfortable, perfect after a day of exploring the area. We highly recommend this hotel for any family visiting Lake Toya!””

„Possibly the best hotel we’ve stayed in Japan. Everything was perfect and attention to detail was paid by the staff everytime. Just remember to contact the hotel in advance if you require transfer from JR Toya to the hotel. There were plenty of games to play at the hotel and the view of the lake was amazing. The lounge area has a bar for those who are into alcohol. The room was spacious and super comfortable with high quality amenities provided. The private bath was also superb. There’s a coffee grinder and drip coffee maker which was an interesting experience. Breakfast and dinner were also very delicious with top notch ingredients. Highly recommended!”

„Rusutsu Resort is an excellent choice for families, especially those traveling with children. The resort offers a wide variety of facilities all in one place, making it very convenient and stress-free for family trips. There are indoor and outdoor activities, play areas, ski facilities, and entertainment options suitable for both kids and adults, so everyone can find something to enjoy. One of the biggest advantages is the location. The resort is very close to a convenience store,which is extremely helpful for families — whether you need snacks, drinks, daily essentials, or quick meals, everything is within easy reach. There are also many restaurants inside the resort, offering different types of cuisine. However, it’s important to note that several popular restaurants require advance reservations, especially during peak seasons. Planning ahead is highly recommended to avoid long waits or limited dining options. Overall, Rusutsu Resort is very family-friendly, well-organized, and convenient. With its wide range of facilities, nearby convenience store, and diverse dining choices, it’s a great destination for a comfortable and enjoyable family holiday — just remember to book restaurants early.”

„The location is the best which just one minute walking distance to the bus terminal to/from Toya Station and in front of the ferry pier. Please see my photo. Perfect location. The front desk receptionist lady was friendly. I was placed to a lake view Japanese style room. It doesn't include shower but toilet in the room and it looks like old but I love the room. The view from the room's window to Lake Toya was excellent. I love my room's window can be opened, I could see more clear to the lake view and to have fresh air from outside by opening the window. Even it was a raining day, cloudy and frosty. The view is still spotless good. The service was good. The room was clean, tidy and come with all necessity, but bath/shower excluded. However, based on the price, I was happy with it because I don't mind to use the bathroom in the onsen area on floor one. There was only two down side that I found: First, the male onsen area floor was sticky and slippery with moss (My left hand accidentally touched it and my hand was sticked with moss in outdoor onsen area) that includes indoor and outdoor area. I wish they would take more effort to the cleanliness of onsen area. Second, the suana was not available for customer to use. However, I had a fantastic sauna and onsen in 万世閣 (a hotel where is just a few minutes walk away from Toya Grand Hotel) by a paying walk in onsen fee(1300 yen) for non-resident. So, it didn't affect me much. Overall, my experience was good. I would give Toya Grand Hotel 8 out of 10. I love Toya Grand Hotel. I would recommend it.”

„The Windsor Hotel at Toya may boast its status as a premier 5-star luxury destination and its historic role as host of the 2008 G8 Hokkaido Toyako Summit, but our recent stay fell far short of expectations. Despite the grandeur of the location and its breathtaking views, the service quality was surprisingly poor for a hotel of this caliber. English communication was inconsistent and below the standard expected at an international luxury property. Housekeeping was careless—leaving a used cleaning towel on the bed after daily room service, which is simply unacceptable. When I drove to the main entrance to pick up my family, I was abruptly asked to leave immediately, even though only a few cars were present. This lack of hospitality was jarring. Additionally, being charged for extra bottled water—something even 3-star hotels offer complimentary—felt petty and out of touch with luxury norms. The most troubling experience came during checkout. Two of our international credit cards failed to process, and although we successfully paid with a third, the staff’s attitude was unprofessional. We were met with a sour expression and the word “FINALLY” once the transaction went through—an unacceptable remark that left a lasting negative impression. While the hotel’s setting is undeniably beautiful, the overall service and treatment we received did not reflect the standards of a true 5-star experience. I hope the management takes these concerns seriously and works to improve both staff training and guest relations.”

„My brief, one-night stay at Kohan Tei left me with mixed feelings. Stepping into the hotel, it was immediately clear that the property is quite dated; honestly, everything just looks worn out. This dated feel detracted from the experience, leaving the stunning lake view as the only true highlight—and even that is conditional on good weather, making it a bit hit-or-miss. The onsen was, unfortunately, a disappointment. The facility itself is small, and I found it inconvenient that they don't provide towels, requiring a trip back to the room. The biggest issue, however, was the outdoor bath: the water simply wasn't hot enough to truly relax in the cold winter air. On the positive side, I could see why the buffet dining is a big draw. Both breakfast and dinner seem popular, especially since they offer the fun option to do your own mini grill or hotpot. My only critique here is that the breakfast time felt relatively short—it was a definite rush to finish before the cutoff. Finally, the location is excellent for exploring. We enjoyed a lovely post-meal walk that stretches all the way to the ferry dock (about 3-4 km). It's a peaceful stroll with sculptures along the way, perfect for a photo or two. Overall, while the setting is beautiful, the hotel is truly due for a major renovation.”

„Overall a great stay. The biggest advantage is the convenience. It is truly ski in ski out, which makes it very easy to access the slopes without needing to travel anywhere. The slopes here are also very beginner friendly. They are not too steep, which makes it a comfortable place to learn or practice skiing. I also took a 2 hour private ski lesson arranged through the hotel. Our instructor, Yuki, was very friendly, patient, and encouraging, which made the learning experience enjoyable. The only downside was the food. Both the dinner and breakfast buffet had quite limited variety, and the taste was just average. Considering the price we paid, the food did not feel very worth it. Overall, it is still a good place to stay if you want convenience and easy access to beginner friendly slopes. Just do not expect too much from the buffet.”

„I chose Muwa through Trip.com to make sure my girlfriend would be as comfortable as possible for her very first ski experience—especially since it was her birthday. Neither of us had been to Niseko before, so we had quite a few questions beforehand. Liz was incredibly responsive and helpful over email, which made the planning process smooth and stress-free. From the moment we arrived, the experience exceeded our expectations. The concierge team, led by Andreas, welcomed us warmly at check-in, setting the tone for a truly memorable stay. Their professionalism and genuine hospitality immediately made us feel at home. The room itself was modern, spacious, and thoughtfully designed—providing the perfect place to relax and unwind after a day on the slopes. We also utilized the in-house ski instructors from True Niseko, which made a huge difference for beginners like us. Arthur and Andrea were patient, knowledgeable, and made the entire experience fun and much less intimidating. We will definitely come back :)”
