Did we stay at the same hotel as the naysayers? We were here 9th-16th March 2024. Over the years we have stayed at loads of hotels in ski resorts and thought this one was very good. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was really good, the menu varied, with plenty of choice (including a raclette one night), excellent desserts, salads and soups. We had no problems finding a table at breakfast or dinner even though the hotel was full. The room size was fine, although we did have a third bed in our room, so it may have been slightly bigger than a standard double. Rooms were cleaned daily, and beds made, with 2 changes of towels in the week. The swimming pool was a highlight, a real treat after skiing all day, not too cold, comparable in temperature to most outdoor pools. We were 100% satisfied and will definitely return.

We attended Tomorrowland music festival on March 2024 and hands down, this is one of the worst traveling experience I have ever had. The room is super small - that’s understandable, the food - not great, that’s my personal opinion but not having basic services like cleaning the room every day (especially for the price that we paid), no clean towels on a daily basis, seems that this hotel needs some serious sterilization. Food ran out at least twice during the week, no vegetables, bar accepts cash only. I am not sure why it’s even called an hotel, why it is so expensive and perhaps they should mention that guest need to bring their own towels. It’s more like q hostel. Stay away.

Les Bergers is ok if you are there for the skiing and looking for basic accommodation and food with a short walk to the first lifts. The rooms are very small and just about ok for two people. Cleaning could have been better. The public areas and bar did not have much character. The bar only opened in the late afternoon which was disappointing because there is a nice sun terrace, albeit overlooking the road. Reception is only open during the day. There was not enough snow near the hotel to test the claim that you can ski in/out, but the route from the boot room to the nearest lift did not look suitable. The staff were pleasant and helpful.

Good things 1. Location is close to the ski lifts Rubbish things 1. Food and restaurant. Overcrowded, tables not cleared away, food the same most days. As a consequence we went to some local brilliant restaurants 2. Pool very cold and not usable as a result and over crowded. We didn’t use just toe dipped to test. 3. Spa area has a distinct bad smell of being generally unclean. We used once that was enough 4. Entertainment all French. Not unusual necessarily 5. Rooms incredibly small not enough space at all. No basic kettle etc either 6. Rooms not cleaned when we stayed 7. No towel provision for pool area and we were offered to have to pay for spare towels 8. It isn’t ski in at all. Ski out check picture… this was in feb and club med next door managed to maintain proper ski out. If it’s advertised as such then you need to maintain it. The “ski out” when there is enough snow is very dangerous and quite close to the road 9. Ski hire. We paid a premium for quality skis but were told by the ski shop that there is no such difference in quality. See picture of skis at least more than one season old and battered same with boots 10. Arrival check in 6pm far too late! Meant we lost the day as we were told checkin was earlier Apart from that we had a great holiday despite the hotel. Ski great and resort great. Shame about this highly over rated hotel it’s nowhere near 4 star more like 1 or 2 Recommend smithy’s restaurant, lafolie douche for a mid day party amongst many others

My wife and I stayed at this hotel in February 2024. First the good(ish) points: *Quite convenient for the chair lifts and the "commercial centre" which is basically a few bars (that are closed in the evening, so dont expect much in the way of nightlife or apres ski) ski hire shops, a supermarket and bank. *Free wine with your evening meal, (when it hasn't run out). *Most of the staff are nice and helpful, particularly the reception and cleaning staff, although 1 or 2 in the bar/dining room are just plain ignorant and rude. * Reasonably comfortable room. *Ski hire/free storage just down from the reception, although boots are just on pegs, so not secure, and boards/skis on racks that are not secure unless you have your own lock.. Now the not so good parts: *Described as "ski in, ski out" there is absolutely no way to ski in, as there is a mini alpine roller coaster between the slopes and the hotel. And only ski out if you take your life in to your hands (although there wasn't a lot of snow coverage when we were there, so ski out may be possible with a lot more snow). However, as the ski out area gets quite narrow, and a steep embankment is adjacent to the road, a slight miscalculation could see you sprawled on the tarmac and possibly in the path of a car. *The room could be quite cool at times, as the hotel thermostat was set at 20°C and despite asking for the temperature to be adjusted, nothing happened. *Tiny bathroom with a bath just over 3 feet long, no electic point for hairdryer/shaver/electric toothbrush, etc. *Although there is a mirror in the bedroom, the nearest electric socket is the one used for the bedside lamp, so that has to be unplugged if you want to use a hairdryer for example. *The bar/entertainment area is a bit like a 90s working mens club and the bar doesn't have a lot of choice (we asked for a cognac, a French spirit, and they didn't have any)! *The road outside the main entrance was so icy it was quite dangerous to walk up, to get to the main road in to the resort centre, and alo when getting on or off the bus. 5 minutes with a spade could have cleared the ice. *The dining room is much too small for the number of guests, meaning we frequently couldn't find a table, so had to hang about till someone left, then clear the table ourselves as the staff don't seem too quick at doing it. Even if you get there quite early, there is an issue getting a seat, some people were even sitting outside at breakfast due to lack of available seating. *The food is really very poor, and probably the worst in any hotel we have been to in 25 years of holidaying abroad, 2 or 3 times a year. Very limited choice, and not of particularly good quality, generally tasteless, and geared up for the French, with a description of what the item is, only in French, no English translation, so even though I speak some French, it was hard to work out what the item was. Although we had paid for half board, we started going to local bars to eat in order to get

Irish couples ski / snowboard weeks holiday. We were two couples half board for a week in this hotel in the Bergers region of Alpe D'Huez. The hotel is typical ski hotel in that the rooms are small but functional with beds that are acceptably comfortable. Staff are excellent with good entertainment in the evening (more focussed for kids) There is a beautiful new outdoor pool which we tried out a few times. Also hot tubs and a sauna. Food again typical ski resort french half board with as much red white rose wine as you like. The hotel is more french than Irish / uk but again we are in france and the staff all spoke reasonable English. Not really ski in we tried a few times. But it is ski out and less than 100m to the nearest lift. The lifts in the resort whilst busy are fast and the queues move fast. Included are heated boot dryers for all guests in the basement with ski storage ment dry boots each morning. There is a cashless bar so you load a payment card which they refund any remaining credit at the end of the week. Bar prices are good. Hotel at our request had breakfast ready at 5am on the day of our leaving which was excellent. Would return.

Great hotel, Went all inclusive. Food is amazing, staff work very hard. Bar is good with good choice for all inclusive. Rooms are small, but this is not a problem as who spends much time in them at a ski holiday? And the seating area by the bar is a nice place to spend time with friends and family. Very impressed.

Location is very close to the ski lifts & slops (like 50/100m). The facility is pretty nice, well furnished and with a nice decoration. But the main point is about the team: from the restaurant to the kids clubs, from the cleaning staff to the reception desk, they are all so nice! They made our stay lovely and our daughters (3&5 year old) enjoyed an amazing vacation time. Thanks a lot!!!

The location of the hotel is fantastic, right by the ski slopes/lifts. Having the ski rental located in the hotel is a bonus as they keep everything for you every evening. Staff, entertaining team, restaurant team are super friendly and work hard. We didn’t have children with us but the “animation” team were presents and they had a lot of activities/ shows on. Seemed to cater well for the younger ones. We enjoyed the “aperitif games” every evening however, more English speaking is needed (luckily I am fluent in both so I could help my partner understand). Couple of notes: The food is ok, like others noted, they seemed to run out of food quickly so get there early (before 7pm). The layout of the buffet isn’t perfect but that’s more the infrastructure. The rooms are quite small and unfortunately the walls are paper thin! I could hear every single word spoken of the room next door. Rooms are clean daily. Overall, a good holiday.
