Stayed in one of the newly renovated suites on the ground floor, which were luxurious and comfortable. We went for a walking trip on the Ridgeway and to enjoy the other trals around the picturesque Hambleden Valley, and it didn't disappoint. The pie of the day was excellent and service was excellent.

Just had a Mothers' Day lunch at this very pretty and comfortable rural pub in the Chilterns for a family of 10. Despite only booking for 8 people, they very kindly accommodated an extra 2 diners to our party. The service was really attentive. Everyone at the table enjoyed their delicious food, and the whole experience made for a special occasion. Would love to come back again and try the general menu.

I highly recommend people to stay here and eat here. This has been taken over recently and the owners and the people who work here work diligently to please and serve you. Lovely homely rooms and bar and restaurant area! On arrival Adam up graded us and was on hand throughout our stay!

Adam and his team really put the effort in to make the stay special. There was a problems with the boiler affecting the hot water to our room so we were given another one to use for showering and the weekend we stayed Adam was short staffed but all efforts were put in to make our stay really enjoyable. Food is excellent and a credit to Adam he just needs more help but it was a lovely staff and we will return.

The room quite clearly was new and was very clean and well presented. The downside was although there was a lovely bath, there was no shower! there was a shower attachment as part of the bath taps but there was no where to hang it or no curtain. The bath looked lovely but was absolutely useless to a 65 year old lady with arthritis. The heating was broken and while we were out for the evening they put a fan heater in, which warmed up the room turned it off when went to sleep and it wouldn’t work again. All in all I felt that £150 including our breakfast was a hell of a lot of money for stay we had!

We arrived to a warm welcome which was very pleasant after a long drive from North Yorkshire. Our room was smaller than expected but was very clean and well equipped including plenty of wardrobe space, a full size hairdryer, ironing board and a decent size mini fridge. Mugs rather than cups and saucers for tea and coffee would be a good idea. Our only real observations for improvement are the shower doors which come off easily if not handled gently and an over abundance of shampoo and conditioner but no shower gel. The restaurant was very nice and the food was good quality with a decent deal on 2 courses for £28 per person. Breakfast ingredients were good quality but consistency varied each day on portion sizes. Drinks in the evening were not overpriced for the area and there was a good selection of local gin to try. The area is very quiet but if you are walking from one village to the next there is a lot of road walking. Public transport is limited with buses only running Monday to Friday so you will need to either drive or take a taxi. We did take a taxi to our vineyard tour which was only 4 miles away but the cost was an eye watering £30! Not the fault of the hotel by any means but something for guests to be aware of. All in all a very pleasant stay for 2 nights. With just a few small touches we would have given 5 out of 5

We stayed at the Chiltern foxes overnight with friends. Check in was very quick nothing was explained to us apart from how to get in if we were out late. We popped down to the bar for a drink to find it was £14 for a 250ml glass of wine! One of our rooms was next to the laundry room where the tumble dryer was still going at 11pm making it very noisy. The music playing in the hallways was also loud late at night which we had to ask to be turned down. There was no mattress protector on the bed. The water was hardly draining away in the shower tray. Came down for breakfast I ordered the salmon and scrambled eggs on sourdough. When it came there was no sourdough bread I asked the waitress if I could have the sourdough and she said she would ask. The response from the kitchen was they should have changed the menu, they have run out of sourdough and 2 orders are being cooked and they have the last 2 slices! I said that I had ordered first and she said we have run out but I can give you gluten free toast which came up barely toasted and soggy. I said I didn’t want gluten free bread but it was plonked on the table. The tea cups were stained and not clean. All in all for the price of the stay and service received we can safely say we won’t be returning!

We stayed at the Chilterns Fox for one night as a family of four adults and were highly impressed by the high standards and personalised service. Despite this being our first visit, I felt we were welcomed as friends and treated as ‘regulars’. Evie looked after most aspects of our stay and is an absolute gem; nothing was too much trouble for her, she dealt with everything swiftly and professionally, often going above expectation to deal with our requests (we became inadvertently high maintenance!) She deserves a great deal of credit for ensuring that our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Other than the great staff, other impressive aspects: - Beautiful rural setting - Sunday lunch was absolutely delicious - Breakfast was of a very high standard - Rooms were clean and comfortable

This is the only pub in close proximity to Wormsley Estate and Garsington Opera - in fact just over mile to the entrance. The pub is also restaurant with rooms. We had a standard double room, one of seven, which was very basic, and it did not reflect how it appeared on the internet. When we reserved last November 2022 we were informed that we fortunate to have booked early as their prices were going up 2023 as the rooms were being renovated. In fact we paid under £200 for two nights with breakfast included. We can say the room with a superb breakfast in its current state we would have been happy to pay £120 but no way, without renovation £130 for the room and £15 per person for breakfast as is the current price. There was no mattress protector and the sheet was directly on the mattress. The duvet, not only was it too short all round but full of heavy obviously low quality synthetic fibre. We also discussed with day staff that the refrigerator was not working, the safe was in locked position open and bedside lamp was not working. It was not a real issue with us but it does reflect there is no check system when room is cleaned. The day staff were quite junior but we felt they were detached from the accommodation side of the pub. Ollie was there when we arrived and was very helpful but after that there was no managerial leadership up until the time we left and considering there are on the ground floor another five rooms which have been renovated to a very high standard but are now £230 with breakfast included - it is again an excessive amount Please take this as constructive feedback as there were many positive features - bar and restaurant were very modern with subtle decor giving a good energy However I must say it was one of the best breakfasts in a pub we have experienced and we commended the chef directly. There was fresh fruit cereal and yoghurt sourced from Devon and the scrambled egg and and smoked salmon was absolutely superb. The chef is very particular about his suppliers and it is apparent from smoked salmon as it has no fat lines often a sign the salmon are caged. The fresh apple juice was also appreciated We accept that the price we paid was very reasonable but we would not return to a unrenovated standard room at £160 with breakfast included
