The highlight of this place was the staff, who were universally friendly, professional, and helpful. The breakfast was good, and the transfer shuttle was nice, but buyer beware: “standard” rooms are anything but. I booked 8 months before my stay and attempted to rent one of the off-site apartments the hotel offers - however, this reservation was canceled, and I was rebooked in the main hotel. My stay was staggered with other shorter trips to the surrounding area, and I wound up staying in 3 different rooms The first room was a “special” room for solo travelers. I’d booked a standard room and, based on website photos and description, was expecting a double bed, space to move around the room, a view of the water. However, I was assigned a tiny room with a twin bed that took up most of the room, and a window that looked at the apartment building next door. It lacked basics like coat hooks, a nightstand, a read lamp, or a functioning wardrobe - and yet, it cost just as much as other rooms. The next room was adjacent to the kitchen, where I could hear cooking, conversation, and the staff’s music from 6am-almost midnight. Banging on the wall and the constant noise of the kitchen ventilation systems were added bonuses. The second room was larger and had the basics you’d expect in a hotel room, but due to kitchen noise, I actually wound up wearing earplugs anytime I was in my room, it was that loud! The third room was adjacent to the lobby and dining hall, so also very loud - patrons were audible from early morning until late at night. The dining room windows also had a direct view into the hotel room - no privacy here. As other guests have noted, wifi is weird in this hotel, and it did not work in this room. Hotel Icefiord advertises itself as a premier hotel and “peaceful retreat” on their website. That was absolutely the opposite of my experience, and given the cost of this hotel, I’m deeply disappointed. I stayed in three different rooms, and all were subpar. I highly recommend you book elsewhere!
