T O U R I S T S B E W A R E ! ! ! In January 2024, we made a reservation for 2 days for June 2024. That was 5 months in advance. A couple of weeks later (February) we needed to change our stay to 3 days later. According to their website, the days we were requesting were available, so we emailed the hotel for the change. We never received a response, however, we did receive a cancelation email, which we had not requested (unless they had no availability, of course). We tried contacting them again in regards to our refund but, not surprisingly, given their actions, they never responded either, nor issued a refund. Leaving us no alternative, we were forced to contact our credit card company and dispute the charge of $944.31. They took, what seems like, forever to finally agree to refund our money. Our credit card company had to reach out to them a few times before the issue was resolved. WHY would they, CLEARLY, state in their website, “Guests can cancel free of charge until 48 hours before arrival” if they are not going to honor it, especially for a reservation made/canceled so many months in advance? Given that it took them almost TWO MONTHS to agree to issue us a refund, it is OBVIOUS that, had we not opened a chargeback claim with our credit card company, they would have kept our money. WHY would they make potential customers go through this? Did they REALLY think for one second that we were going to stay with our hands crossed and not DO anything about it? We have no doubt that those guests who have left great reviews had great experiences. We surmise, having gone through our own experience, that is because they never had the need to change their reservation dates and, ultimately, cancel their reservation. Or, as in OUR case, have their reservation canceled by the hotel itself. Having said this, if you are absolutely certain that you will not need to change the dates of your reservation or even cancel, and want to risk it (and your hard-earned money), given that an emergency beyond your control can arise at any time, go right ahead and book them. We know WE will not be doing that again.
