I stayed for a week at the Grand Kavi on a recent visit to Istanbul. The room I stayed in had a great view towards the Bosphorous, with big windows opening to meet the sounds of the city. The location is great, with many of the city attractions within a 15–20-minute walk. The nearby tram stop at Beyazit means you can get to further parts of the city easily. There is also a plethora of choice in terms of restaurants within 5 minutes of the hotel. Without doubt though – and reflecting other reviews – the biggest positive from my stay at the Grand Kavi was the staff. Most of my interactions were with Aziz and Ismail, who were not only helpful and always attentive, but also warm and likeable. Both, along with the owner (whose name I can’t recall…), always greeted me with a smile and some friendly conversation. The welcoming nature of the staff at the Grand Kavi really made my trip to Istanbul more enjoyable. Especially Ismail, with whom I had some fascinating conversations over cups of tea in the late evenings, and who also introduced me to some delicious home-made Sohan. Thanks Ismael. The Grand Kavi is a great option if you are looking for a well located and reasonably price hotel with excellent service.
