We had the BEST time in unit 344 and at Honua Kai Resort, renting with KBM Resort Rentals, through Air BNB. We will definitely come back for a family visit. The unit came with essentials needed for the beach, all the comforts of home to be able to relax and cook and do laundry, and clear instructions on checking out. The resort staff were very helpful in getting luggage/groceries to our room and answering any questions we had. My only "other than positive" thought is that I would not consider what the resort lists as a Lazy River, to be what I know a lazy river to be. It doesn't move at all. That being said, all the pools are fabulous. We never had a hard time finding lounge chairs, towels were always available, and access to the beach was so easy. Dukes was phenomenal for pool side service and dining in.

I'm really glad we booked this hotel after checking out some of the options in Maui, getting overwhelmed, and just booking and hoping for the best. Our suite is more spacious than I thought it would be, and the kitchen, bathrooms, and bedding are all updated. Our balcony is great- table, lounging chairs, etc. The grounds, pools, and parking are all well kept. The shop has all the essentials, which makes life easy! The restaurant is also an easy choice with great beach views, and enough variety for us. Easy beach access and a long walking trail along the beach.

This place is just ok. Nothing more, nothing less. It’s sort of like a hotel in that there is a nice pool, but that’s basically where the hotel feel ends. It operates completely like a condo complex, which it is. It is VERY confusing and also VERY weird, that, depending on who manages the particular condo you rent, depends on what color towel you get at the pool (blue vs white). Like seriously…who cares? Just give everyone the same color towel. It looks very cheap having multiple color towels. Our unit, Konea building #207 was fine. again, nothing more nothing less. It’s plenty big (family of 5) and well equipped with dishes, glasses, etc. there is ZERO housekeeping services. So don’t expect your room to be cleaned, trash to be taken out, towels to be changed, etc. it’s 100% up to you to do it. It’s located in an ideal location right in the mix of all other resorts , right on the beach. There is a Times supermarket conveniently located across the street and a food truck park next door. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here as a family as long as you know that you’re basically staying in a condo and NOT a full service hotel. If you’re not a family staying here with kids, I WOULD NOT recommend this place. Stay at a nice resort and take advantage of resort amenities.

We stayed here for 9 days in July in an oceanview 2 bedroom condo. For over 12k I expected so much more. First the room - stains all over the carpets it was gross. The washer was moldy and you had to slam the door a few times before it would work. We needed to request spatula, cutting board and kitchen cleaning supplies. The kitchen is not equipped. We rented this because we needed the kitchen to cook and if you have similar needs you may need to make requests upon check in. Because each unit is independently owned the resort will only do so much. (We rented from the resort but keep in mind if you don’t you will not have access to certain assistance). Cleaning fee is ALOT when they only come in 1x in 9 days. This is not like a regular resort. The onsite services are lacking. There is small store that serves coffee and breakfast items and has some grocery items but that’s it. The only restaurant onsite is DUKES and make sure to make a reservation or you could be waiting hours. (Check out the food trucks next to the resort, faster and better food!) There is another store with more options in the other building and you can walk down to the other resorts and use theirs which were much better. The pools are full all the time. We have teens and they didn’t even want to go in the pools. So many people and kids you can barely move in the pools. If you want a chair get down to the pool at 7am. The concierge services were interesting. The lady was not pleasant or very helpful unless you agreed to buy something and seemed to bothered to talk to us to long. We wanted to rent snorkel equipment. She gave us a 50% off coupon off resort saying it was cheaper - we thought great. Went to get it and after being fitted and ready to go they said the 50% is only good for a 10 day rental. We only wanted a few days. Not an option and after spending an hour there picking stuff out we just paid it and took it. ($350 for 3 sets of snorkel equipment, 2 foam boards, 4 chairs and an umbrella). She didn’t tell us and neither did the snorkel place and the coupon doesn’t say it so make sure to ask questions as they all work together to make money. The coffee shop employees were not happy every day we were there. Not sure what it was but no one smiles or said good morning and would not engage in an conversation. The beach, is steep. You go in the water and there is huge drop. There are much nicer beaches in the area but if you wanted a nice walkable beach this is probably not the best. The positive - There was a nice walking trail from the resort to other resorts. There was some vendors that were out 2x during the week which made shopping easy. The bellmen were amazing, friendly and very helpful, more than any other staff we encountered. The rooms were spacious which gave room and space for all travelers. The beds were comfortable. Wonderful ocean front resort. Sit at Dukes and enjoy a cocktail and a meal and view the ocean and resort. Comfortable size rooms and lanais. Spa on property. Friendly staff. Many pools and hot tubs. Beautiful landscaping around property. Close to shopping and restaurants.

We had a wonderful stay, the rooms were very clean, the staff was friendly and accommodating. The views from our room were spectacular. We could see whales and rainbows from our deck. The swimming pools and hot tubs were clean and well laid-out. We never had a problem finding poolside chairs. The beach out in front of the resort and down to Black Rock is very nice and deep sand. The sand extends down into the water a few feet and then the bottom is mostly reef. This means that if you are a snorkeler, you will love it, because you can snorkel right out in front of the hotel and all the way down to Black Rock while seeing a great assor**ent of beautiful tropical fish and even a sea turtle or two. We also saw a seal within ten feet of the shore, but only for a few seconds. If you want a better place to have the kids running around in the sand without any reef, just walk down the beach closer to Black Rock and you will find it all sand out deep as well as in the shallows. We also snorkeled out and around Black Rock where the reef is steep and deeper, and saw even more great fish and quite a few sea turtles. We ate at Dukes restaurant several times and the food and staff were wonderful. Watching whales surface while eating breakfast and planning our day's adventure with the family was priceless. I hope to come back soon!

Loved this resort and our stay was great. Had a beautiful view of ocean from our rooms as well as close to pools. Staff was friendly, and our condo was perfect for our family. Well stocked kitchen that allowed us to make breakfast and eat it on the veranda.

As we walked in to the unit, the smell was unbearable. They had to spray it twice and change the air filter. The maintenance person said while changing the filter, “this filter is so dirty”. None of it helped tho with the smell! The apar**ent we received is infested with large roaches. The receptionist informed me that those were baby roaches after I showed her a picture! A roach was on the top of the coffee maker and fell into the area where the water is added as I was trying to brew coffee. Imagine preparing food in this purportedly "beautiful kitchen" while bugs are everywhere. We had “Mountain view” room and let me tell u…yes, there are mountains, of course, they r all around but the view is looking in to the parking lot! Very noisy from the traffic that is nearby. The balcony door was broken, very hard to open and hurt myself opening the door. After speaking to the front office about the issues I was told that they have no other rooms available because they are housing people impacted by the fire. The receptions took my information for the manager to call me which the manager did not do. Following up again, supervisor stated there is nothing they can do and to call Costco Travel to be moved to another hotel. But because of the holiday everything was booked! The “beach towels” are actually towels u get in the bathroom so there is no beach towels. “Cleaning service”, only 1 cleaning service available for 10 day stay and u have to make an appoin**ent for cleaning service because they are “short staffed”. Additionally, you would anticipate receiving this information upon arrival given that this is our first trip here. Nevertheless, they're just full of surprises! To staff and management…if you are unable to provide to paying customers the services we paid for then you should stay closed. Again, we r working class as you are and treating guests the way I have been treated is no way running a business.
