The building is impressive, enthroned up on the east hillside of Karlovy Vary. Habsburgian vibes reminiscent of ancient days. Imperial is in good condition and nicely renovated. The scale of the building is huge and dimensioned for thousands of guests. Walking around takes quite a bit of time but with lesser amount of guests than the mentioned thousand, it feels quite lonely to stroll the corridors... The public areas are mostly beautiful, but the five official stars... no, unfortunately not. What is lacking? Well, the scale of the property demands to keep it running. To keep it running you have to have a lot of guests. Thus, you have to attract people who not usually are in the "five star category". And so they (try to) do. Many things turn to "cantina" standard in respect of both the reception and "handling" of the guests and the dining options. Very tired staff at check in. One example: in the main lobby there are only two elevators, whereof one at our visit was out of order. Another elevator in another part of the hotel did not serve all the floors. Nah.... Rooms are renovated and just fine. All amenities and a good night's sleep in comfy beds. Nice with a small balcony. For those having some sort of boarding agreement, dinner is served as a buffet dinner in the magnificent "Prague restaurant" with lavish decoration. A buffet is hardly a concept in a real five star hotel and we consequently had dinner in the more intimate "Restaurant Paris" - see my separate review. In "Prague" breakfast is also served, which proved to be a great gathering of all the hotel guests at the same time. More like a school cantina than a five star hotel. Everything in place though, and most thing you would want is there to find. Queues to the coffee machines... Parking was "doen the hill" and we ended up parking on a tennis court (!). OK - no problem, but not in the ballpark of attending staff helping you with the parking facilities. Staff correct and polite. But very stiff. And tired. Many steps behind service of a true 5-star. It's about price/performance. We had the opportunity to stay at three different hotels at Karlovy Vary during our stay. And one of those was the Grandhotel Pupp, which we considered to be much more lika a true five star. AND they are/were cheaper! So, you may well stay at Imperial, just for the sake of the building's eminent history and athmosphere. But be aware that days gone by since the turn of the century does not apply in the respecto of "grand" anymore.

Everything about this hotel is perfect. We were guests four years ago and so to come back has been a great privilege.

The hotel is dated, needs updates but it has its own charm so many will like it as it is a traditional old style building All in all I was very disappointed Rooms are large but cold at night we had 2 rooms booked we could not sleep at night due to been very cold complained to the front desk and they couldn't do anything so waiting till the morning and had a lengthy chat with the manager( Blanka) who in the end managed to switch the heating on which helped and offered a free spa treatment which I think was good customer service The overall feel was not great alot of staff don't speak English so it is difficult to communicate, I felt most staff other then front desk need a lot of customers service training as they are very rude and abrupt and don't have any training to deal with customers Even at the desk when we checked in the lady on reception said people in this region are different and can be rude !! I will not stay in this hotel again to sum up things I moved to another hotel in town and it is fabulous

Clean hotel, rooms are cleaned every day. Many rooms have balconies. It is overlooking green hills and air around is clean and fresh. We slept with open windows. Rooms are huge, same with bathrooms. Nice furniture in the room. Free transportation to take you down to colonnades. This is a Spa town. Many people come to Karlovy Vary to enjoy hot springs and healing water. Hotel offers good quality home made food buffet style 3 times a day, breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can get SPA procedures of your choice and see the medical specialists as part of hotel services.

Loved our stay! Comfortable bed and pillows and nice spa area. The hotel gives huge Overlook vibes (if you have ever seen The Shining), with extremely wide and long corridors. All very tasteful, very impressive marble staircase, but still has an authentic behind-the-iron curtain cold-war feeling. Excellent cocktails in the piano bar in the evening, very much recommended. Breakfast was plentiful, but could have more vegetarian/vegan options.

A dream - timetravel to 1912 ! Wonderful hotel and great location. We loved it and had a great time… the only thing we didn’t enjoy that much is the huge and busy dining room. The spa treatments are fine and there is a large variety. The rooms are comfortable and clean.

It was really confortamble hotel a pllesure to stay here. Karlove Vary - k´colonade with hot wather are downsters about 450 m. But you can use it lift if you like it. We use walking and hikig so we make stronger our body. Family like pool and bath wellnes. Use to all procedure. 👌
