Wild Atlantic Apartments Killarney

The apar**ent was large and clean - plenty of room for a family of 4 - Mum and three teenagers, 2 girls and a boy. We had 2 double beds between us - which doesnt work with an 18-yr old son. The mistake was likely mine in the booking. We asked for another bed, which was provided - a fold-out with so many undulations you could have surfed on it. The bed came without bedding - in an Irish winter - so we had to pester the manager again - who did try her best to be helpful. We ended up raiding bedding under the stairs and my son slept on the couch. We didnt have any hot water for the 2 nights we were there and the heating in the bedrooms was erratic - more often off than on. And the electric jug kept shortening out the electricity, so we couldnt use that either. This was replaced on our second day. The manager tried to assist with the hot water which was on a timer system. We followed her instructions and tried numerous other options to get it working and in the end gave up. A handyman was supposed to come and check it, but there was no evidence of that. All in all it was a cold and stressful couple of days.

We had no heat, not enough hot water. The towels we had were barely enough. No extra blankets.

If I could give this property minus 5 stars I would. It smelt like urine in the kitchen and lounge area. Was dangerous for small kids with 2 heaters hanging off the wall and a shower just hanging on! There was unrepaired holes in the walls feom doors been banged. We only stayed one of the four nights we booked be got out of there quick!

Do not stay here. We had to leave after the first night. The door to the apar**ent would not close. We could not lock the door. After calling the two people responsible for the apar**ent and waiting for their call back We had to put our 3 very young kids to bed. They did not come to help. They left us like that for the night. I was so afraid someone was going to break in I had to stay awake for the night. We put bags and chairs up against the door to stop it opening. The place was also dirty. I had to clean the toilets before my kids could use them. There was poo on one of the toilet seats! Dirty doors and walls. Rusty kitchen wear. Chipped glasses. The place had started to be renovated. Half painted walls and doors. Screws sticking out of doors that had been painted over. Ect ect. Even after photographic evidence been shown. The place still will not give us our money back. We had to pay for a different hotel for our nights away. It is hard enough to save money to go away. It really put a financial strain on us. We did not get to do things we wanted on the trip. So once again don't stay there.

We are staying in Block B, apar**ent # 15. The apar**ent is certainly roomy enough and has the potential to be a really nice place to stay if it weren’t for the multitude of repairs that need to be made. Most of the needed repairs appear to be smallish things - working lights above he bathroom mirrors, patching/panting, missing sections of the vertical blinds, calking, etc. Unfortunately, where repairs have been made, they’ve been done poorly so things look very shoddy. There are some larger issues too, like poorly installed flooring (gaps & glue). Again, these apar**ents could be wonderful but for the lack of repairs/shoddy repairs. Another thing that would go along way into making this a more inhabitable place would be directions on how to operate the washer/dryer, heating units, and all the other devices that are foreign to people who don’t live in Europe!

Do not book - we stayed elsewhere even though we had paid for the apar**ent. It was dirty and smelled terrible - musty/moldy. And - you cannot contact anyone - everything done via text and email and no one responds to your concerns. Just takes your $$$ and sends you canned responses.

We arrived - got into the apar**ent and turned around and walked out. It was dingy, baths were moldy it smelled musty. Area was a bit sketchy. Had to Scramble for lodging elsewhere

The property is peculiar.. it feels like an American dormitory, and while the units are spacious, they contain the bare minimum of amenities. For example, they offer a washing machine, but no laundry soap. Each bed had a very thin pillow and a comforter. If you needed another blanket in the cold you were out of luck. I messaged to ask about things like the laundry soap and received no response. I also found hair left behind in the shower and in the washing machine. Definitely not the best, strictly functional and not worth its cost.

We stayed in a clean 2 bdrm apt on the top floor. Good location - across the road from a grocery store and shopping area with anything you could need a very short walk away, and not far from the center of town. The building is in a complex with a handful of others behind a hotel along the busy street. We arrived after 7pm and the parking area was nearly empty. Since the apar**ent was behind the hotel it was very quiet, especially at night. But it also felt lonely and abandoned since the buildings are large and all of them seemed completely empty when we arrived. The exterior is reasonably maintained, lawns mowed etc. but no frills- no flowers etc, just bare-bones, old, and well used, like a former project house for lower income tenants. The host sent easy instructions on how to get into the unit, no problems. The unit they gave us to had a broken lock and damage around the door frame that looked like someone had kicked it in and never properly repaired- it only latched when the lock was double-bolted. Combined with us being the only people around made me feel unsafe. We took precautions to secure the door, but still felt nervous. I would not have stayed if I were a woman traveling alone. The interior was spotlessly clean and had everything needed for living, and everything worked perfectly. Furnishings were new enough. Some surfaces could do for a redo. In the end we had a smooth & relaxing stay - it fit our needs well for the big space and the price was right.
