Mantra Samui Resort

The hotel has excellent service particularly in reception where they will do their best to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The restaurant although is lacking in quality other than the breathtaking view of the island it doesn’t have food to compliment it. My girlfriend got really sick after eating the tom yum goong shrimp where she was bedridden and had to puke multiple times. The breakfast buffet also does not offer much for a 5 star resort and is very basic. Overall this is a great stay if you are a couple, the highlights of the mantra samui is the breathtaking view and the infinity pool and gym also the rooms which are spacious and clean. The lowlights are the restaurant and the location which makes it hard to get out of the resort unless you have a rental car.

Stayed for 1 week in January 2023 and in summary it’s not quite a 5 star resort which is a shame as most staff are very pleasant and try to help despite some language issues. The resort is lacking the attention to detail and care that would be expected given it’s price point and marketing, for example speaking to many guests , they like me noted the room TVs being sunburnt which in fairness upon my complaint maintenance did change to resolve the issue albeit to a smaller version whilst the manager was fully aware of this problem so seems silly for such a location to leave details like this unresolved. On that note if your planning on going watching TV then another minus is that the The channels present are pretty woeful and reception is affected by weather so some will disappear if raining etc.WiFi is another big issue especially around the pool area where the hardware used cannot handle the amount of people connecting , I couldn’t conduct a zoom meeting and had to go back to my room to use a different access point again I wasn’t the only one with this issue and management were aware and stated “oh I actually just use my data”. The business Center or co-working area doesn’t have any shared computers present so if you need to do something you better have a laptop otherwise your out of luck. Lastly if you cannot ride a scooter the location at the very top of a steep hill will be very difficult to reach though in fairness to hotel will arrange a shuttle to the main road if you ask. Even as a competent motorcycle rider I was quite careful as road conditions are not the best getting up so be warned. Breakfast is on a menu system which is ok but wouldn’t hurt to have some specials. I asked one day to take away a breakfast item and was refused stating it was only to be consumed in the restaurant area which is somewhat similar to other hotels but to insist on this for a mere sandwich that I wanted to eat a little later in my room as I had meetings to attend seems poor from a luxury resort. The best bit about the hotel is the pool which overlooks a breathtaking vista and is a good size but again there is no policing of folk who want to put towels on sunbeds and reserve them whist swanning off to their room for hours then coming back expecting to have their use . A simple sign could have deterred this behaviour but they seem more concerned with you eating breakfast away from their designated area than the aforementioned matters. Lastly if you like a quiet sleep your in for a shock as it seems the ******* designers thought it was a good idea to use concrete steps on a metal frame so everytime someone uses them you’ll get a nice thudding to accompany you from 5am onwards again in fairness to the hotel they moved my room after I complained but these are basic issues which management should be addressing not leaving to guests to figure out !All in all a disappointing time given Iv stayed in much classier and better run 3 star boutique hotels. I hope management see my review as positive and constructive rather than negative as the location if you are not bothered by the above is great to get away from main noise of koh samui but bar it’s pool area seems covid has stopped any maintenance taking place which is a real shame as it has the bones of a nice resort but lacks the love and care.

The staff and room was lovely but on such a steep hill could not leave room, to leave resort 50 dollar in taxi fees each time food very average , definitely not a good fit for a solo traveller but as of most of Thailand staff were a credit to the resort

Our room was really spacious with a huge balcony. Great room With amazing views. And amazing sunrise, same with the panorama restaurant, breath taking views over breakfast! Very nice staff and accommodating, very sharp! It’s just a bit far, however, far from the noisy streets

The location is not the best, but the hotel can provide a car which will pick you up from the main gate or take you down there. If you will rent a motorcycle then the location isn't a problem at all. The service is great, they also helped us to book a taxi and a ferry to Krabi. They're trying their best to help. The room service is great, you can order food to your room free of charge and the portions aren't small. The hotel has a great view with pool. The breakfast has variety of choice. It's probably the best place to chill.

I stayed in suite ocean room. The view was amazing, the room ia clean and big. The hotel is very good but the location is very bad. The road is dangerous and taxi to chaweng is 450. If you have a car it is ok. For bike the road little dangerous.
