Platanista Hotel

My wife and I read many reviews for hotels in Kos. Every hotel we looked at had some negative reviews which made us feel uncomfortable about booking there. This is the only hotel which had huge numbers of positive reviews and recent reviews which all rated this hotel highly. Location is about a 30 minute walk out of Kos town along the seafront. There is a bus stop outside the hotel which will take you in either direction along the sea front. There is a car and bicycle hire shop directly outside the hotel where you can hire a bicycle for as little as 5 Euros per day. The hotel has two pools which are huge. The number of some beds is huge and there is never a fight for spaces on them. There is no need to be there placing your towels at 7:00 a.m. in the morning to reserve a place. We staye half board and have found the food to be very high quality and varied. The Wi-Fi is the best I have ever had in any hotel in the world!!! Rooms are immaculate and cleaned thoroughly. The beds are extremely comfortable. The hotel staff, especially the staff in the dining area are incredibly friendly and hard-working. The layout of the hotel means that it feels open and not crammed in. The design of the pool and sunbed area means that you can have sun all day if you want it but there are also plenty of areas for shade. There are plenty of trips out up into the mountains and to the surrounding Islands. I would certainly recommend this hotel as a place for relaxing or as an excellent base to explore the area. This is clearly a very good, professionally run Hotel where the management really do look after the guests. I cannot think of any negative aspects to this hotel.

Pleasantly surprised by the whole hotel. Room was brilliant everything you needed was there! The view was sonetging else, overlooking the pools. Tge staff were very helpful and pleasant. Food was delicious and so much to too chose from. Would definstely reccommend it.

We visited the Platanista in September this year for a weeks holiday, the deal was half board booked via Tui. We had just the loveliest of weeks, it's a fabulous hotel. We had a garden room on the ground floor it was a great room, modern and exceptionally clean, comfy bed, aircon and tea and coffee, very quiet at night too, despite being just a handy walk from the bar! The breakfast and dinners were lovely - lots to choose from, the hotel was busy but there was never an issue finding a table for two. We were so impressed with the staff, they were polite, quick, efficient and I don't think I've seen such a hardworking, well organised team, it was a real pleasure to dine and drink at the hotel. The hotel has two really large pools with more sunbeds than I have ever seen so there was no issue finding somewhere to relax and when we went there was no reserving beds with towels! I can't praise the hotel and staff enough - we will visit again! Thank you.

Can only repeat what others have written about this excellent hotel, I only wish I could find another like it for next year as do not particularly want to return to Kos, could not fault cleanliness, staff, or food which was always hot and tasty, hotel has private beach with sun beds on which we did use you do need beach shoes on if you want to go into the sea as it’s a bit rocky but so clean. Overall a great holiday made all the better for staying at this hotel. Sorry gents but they do ask you not to wear shorts in the dining room in the evenings if you don’t like this rule then choose another hotel.

Me and my friend stayed at the hotel platanista in early July 2022. The hotel itself is gorgeous, it’s extremely well kept/maintained - it’s apparent ground staff work very hard. 2 spacious pool areas - you will not struggle for sunbeds here - one pool with a swim up bar which was an added bonus! The rooms are again spacious, extremely clean and modern, and the beds are very comfy. We stayed half board and breakfast selection was amazing, something for everyone and really tasty - drinks included at breakfast too. We only had dinner in the hotel once as we fell in love with the town - the selection on the night we went was ok, not too much choice but we are not fussy eaters so we found something and what we had was really nice, I can’t comment on the dinner as a whole however as we didn’t eat there enough to warrant it. The pool bar menu is extensive, and the food is really delicious, we had sandwiches, calamari, spaghetti and paninis most days and cannot fault it. Now, we are 2 23 year old girls and are not shy of strong drinks, however the drinks here are STRONG, I ordered my go-to (margarita) but I couldn’t drink it due to how much alcohol they used, I didn’t try another drink as this put me off, so beware of the measures! Cocktails were around 8 euros which I think is a good price. The hotel is not within walking distance of Kos Town, so each night we got a tax in. The wait times for taxis varies, some nights we waited 10 minutes and some nights we waited an hour and we didn’t even go during the main UK school holidays so can’t imagine how busy they are if you were to holiday in those times. The wait time at the taxi rank in town is about the same - between 20-45 min wait in the queue. If you’re planning a holiday which you intend to spend a lot of time in Kos Town this may not be the hotel for you. There are local shops close by and restaurants near by which overlook the ocean, well-priced and great food and drinks. Overall we had an amazing holiday and loved our time at the hotel. We didn’t intend for the majority of our evenings to be spent in the town, if we were to return we may chose a more central hotel, but if you are looking for a resort based holiday this is the hotel for you!!

This is a very good hotel. It sits about 100 yards off the costal road, and there is no discernible traffic noise. It takes about 20 minutes to walk into Kos town; or there us a bus stop almost immediately opposite. The hotel consists of several low rise (principally two storey) small blocks. Both externally and internally it looks to have been recently refurbished, with everything fresh looking. At the centre of the site are two good sized swimming pools - one being set aside for those who like a quieter time, and the other for exercise/games/music etc. It works well. There are also two all weather tennis courts plus a volley ball court, table tennis, darts and crazy golf. Back down the entrance drive and straight across the road, the hotel has a stretch of beachfront where there are sun beds and shade for guests. There’s not much sand though, but a sand bag pontoon makes it easier to get out beyond the large pebbles into the water. The view across to Turkey is impressive. There are a number of tavernas and a couple of shops nearby. Breakfast and evening meals are self serve buffet affairs. The selection is not the biggest I have ever encountered, but would be sufficient for most people. The food itself is of good quality. The staff are unfailingly pleasant and helpful. There is evening entertainment throughout the week, usually a musical act of some sort - the standard was pretty good. Guests are a mix of British, German and Dutch and (perhaps understandably at this time of year) older couples; with a scattering of families with pre-school children. One thing that might be worth knowing for some people - the hotel has a number (about 4) of resident cats who prowl freely throughout the day and evening - including through the open air restaurant. Perversely, there is also a flock of chickens who appear to live within the grounds! Why the cats don’t hunt the chickens is a mystery to me. Both cats and chickens are in very good condition!!

This was our first time in Platanista, but for sure not the last. Everything was lovely, the room very clean and beautiful, the bed was amazing and everybody who is working there was very nice and friendly. The snackbar by the pool was also perfect, the staff made as just smile all day. Highly recommended!!!

My wife and I have just returned from a weeks stay at the Platanista (for the second time) and I have to say it was an absolute delight from start to finish. Service at reception was polite and professional and were helpful throughout our stay. Out room was clean and bright and the bed was so so comfortable and the air con was perfect. Room was cleaned daily and the cleaning staff were very pleasant. Food could not be faulted as the choice was vast and varied and delicious. The waitering staff were very helpful, polite and very professional. Always had a smile and time to chat. The pools were immaculate and there were plenty of sun loungers. The town centre in Kos is a good 20 minutes walk or it costs 20 euros by taxi. The town was lovely and so much to see and do. This hotel is one of the best we have been to and will be returning next year. Thank you PLATANISTA.

This has been my second visit to Kos and the Platanista did not disappoint. The grounds were lovely, the room modern and immaculate and the staff were lovely. A special mention to Spartak who went out of his way to greet us, take care of us and it felt more that I was being served by a family member rather than a member of staff. The entertainment at the hotel was varied; we especially liked the acrobatics and dance evening. The location was okay, it meant that we were right next to the main road with buses to Thermes or Kos Town, however sometimes the bus times were a little all over the place! I’d recommend walking to the supermarket down the road as there is a wide selection and a cute little bird to say hello too! The only negatives were: -We arrived late on arrival and were told that no food was to be provided, despite the fact we were half-board. -There was a special bbq night on the Sunday but as we were not informed of this, we had no idea and missed it. Generally as well I think it would be better if there was a host to greet you, advise you of any specials and ensure we were provided a seat (as sometimes it got busy, and with no welcome it felt a bit hectic at times). Overall, 5/5, would definitely stay here again!
