Had heard a lot about this property but was very disappointed. Here's my detailed review: 1. They promise a complimentary pickup from the airport but it's a 14 seater bus which first takes you to the railway station to pick up other passengers and then onto the resort. We opted out and hired a car direct from the airport. 2. On arriving at the resort at around 10:30 am, there was a long waiting queue for people waiting to check in. The whole process took about 90 minutes. 3. On arriving at our Swiss Deluxe tents, we were shocked to see a large number of mosquitos in the bathroom and the bed linen appeared faded and discoloured. The tents themselves appeared to be at the end of their useful life with torn zippers and faded walls and roof. We requested a paid upgrade to a Premium tent and this was arranged by about 7:00 pm. 4. Our first dining experience was also disappointing. There was a huge rush of people and a table was difficult to find. Rotis arrived late and only after repeated reminders. Most food items were tasteless. 5. Housekeeping service were also not upto the mark. Toothpaste was provided in an inconvenient sachet and not replenished. Breakfast tea sachets were similarly not replenished. A refill for the mosquito machine required repeated reminders. 6. The highlight of the trip - the reflection of the full moon on the Raan of Kutch was the biggest let down. Long queues of guests like herds of cattle lined up around 10:00 pm to get into buses. Worse, when we reached the Raan, there was nothing to see - no shimmering reflection of the full moon, nothing at all. The resort doubles it's room rates during full moon nights but they should add a caveat that the Raan experience is not guaranteed so that guests who have booked months in advance are sensitized. 7. Staff is rude and unhelpful. The tour guide on the Kalo Dungar trip (Bus no. 3) threatened at the start of the trip that if people did not pay attention to what he was saying, he would stop talking!! The restaurant manager could not arrange a simple packed breakfast for an early checkout. The person in charge of Cluster A could not arrange a buggy for us at 6:00 am claiming that was the time that drivers would be having their tea!! He also informed us that the protocol was that no bags could be carried on buggies. So you are out of luck if you are a senior citizen and want an early checkout! Overall, it felt like one was staying at a government resort with bureaucratic processes which was being operated for the welfare of its employees rather than the guests. 8. We were relieved to leave the resort at the end of our 2N/3D package and will definitely advise our friends and acquaintances to give the Raan Utsav Tent City a miss.
