Built amphitheatrically on a small hill, in a prime seaside location, Episkopi but in the same time a 5 minutes drive from the port Merihas and 10 minutes away from Chora of Kythnos, lays the Amal Resort. I was there for a week in early August (7 nights) and I was very satisfied with my stay at the resort; my room and the service provided. In fact, hotel staff has always been handy and polite, they couldn’t do more to respond to my needs. The terrace bar, where we were greeted by the hotel owners and given useful information about the island, was airy and welcoming, with bounding views over the Aegean, while the staff in all areas (definitely an asset for the hotel) was doing its best to provide discreet and friendly service. Breakfast included in the rate was being served by the staff and was absolutely above average in terms of quantity and quality. My room (Deluxe Bungalow Sea View with private pool – Bung. No. 32) was rather large, spacious, impeccably clean and included modern amenities, such as free satellite Full HD TV (Netflix), while it also provided terrific views to the sea and the private pool. It was just amazing, to wake up in the morning and indulge in those magnificent views. Rooms’ cleanliness was one of the hotel's highest priorities and cooling was perfectly efficient. Picking a bungalow room with private pool is a must if you are staying at Amal Resort. After soaking up in the sun and swimming at crystal clear waters in the Aegean Sea right below the hotel, the private pool provided me with an extension of my all-day exercise, staying lit until 01:45 in the morning! Family rooms are also available, those are also rather large and comfortable, more generous in space, in the upper floor, with terraces again with sea views. Rooms have no major disadvantages, however, I’d like to point out some issues that I encountered during my stay there: the bathroom had a bad odor one day, algae had grown at the edges of the pool at some point, while their free wireless internet was a bit slow and regularly disconnected, but this didn’t affect me being a leisure traveller. Once reported all the issues were resolved as smooth as a baby’s sleep. In overall, Amal Resort is a great hotel to pick when in Kythnos. The hotel and the services provided to me have always been of a good level, the accommodation quality rather high and the staff more than helpful. I highly recommend it and planning to return in the future!
