As a Hilton Honors Diamond member, I enjoy staying at different properties within the Hilton portfolio. An overnight stay in central Florida led me to Lakeland and I chose this downtown property. i did the usual online check-in and room selection the day before arrival. While on my way driving to Lakeland, I got a message that another room was being substituted, exactly one level below the one I chose. Digital Key was received for that new room. Upon arrival at the hotel on Pennsylvania Avenue, I saw a sign saying Valet Parking. There is no sign for self parking, which makes things very confusing. In a panic I drove around the block and pulled off to contact the front desk thru the Hilton app to inquire. I was told by Noah to enter the same driveway but drive past the valets and I could park on my own. I was still approached in the parking lot by someone who put a ticket on my dashboard and gave me section to hand to the front desk. (Having to do that negated one of the benefits of the Digital Key, to bypass the front desk and head straight to one's room.) I was directed to park anywhere in the lot except those reserved for Diamond members. I said I AM a Diamond member, and was then welcomed to use one of those closer elite spaces. At check-in I was offered a plastic key along with my digital key as they are not 100% reliable. Meanwhile I enjoyed the rest of the evening having dinner in the downtown area, watching to Silver Star call at the nearby Amtrak station twice, and got some more healthy walking around Lake Mirror. When I finally retired back to the hotel to watch TV and relax, I found that the room lacked a remote control for the TV. Back to the app to question Noah at the front desk, who was very nice to bring me a remote and ensured that it worked OK. Housekeeping, however, should have ensured that one existed before leaving the room after cleaning. I found the room to be amply sized for my needs. Bathroom had a huge counter. No issues with hot water in the shower. TV and WiFi worked well. However, the good news is that the desk has outlets and charging ports; the bad news is that they were all powerless and thus useless. Some of the same on the nightstands were also dead, but I had enough that worked. Had to use my laptop on the bed . I did get a good night of sleep, and was ready to move on in the morning. For check-out, I figured I had the choice of doing so at the desk or via the Hilton app. Since I had the plastic key (unused) I wanted to return it. However at the desk was a sign that staff was not present and would be back later (maybe bringing somebody else a missing TV remote?). That sealed the deal, and I checked out in 10 seconds over my phone, leaving the key on the desk and departing. So as constructive suggestions, check rooms for all need items before making them available to incoming guests, change your sign from Valet Parking to Valet and Self Parking, and work on the obvious st
