Premier Inn Edinburgh A7 (Dalkeith)

What an accommodating group of hotel staff! They agreed to take our extra pieces of luggage and stow them for 36 hours, they said yes to everything we asked and were all around so very helpful Nothing was too big an ask! Store some champagnes for us, YES! Help us haul our luggage, of course... we had been traveling for a month! If I ran a hotel, I would hire all of them! The rooms are what you expect at an inn but for me, it was all about excellent service. My one niggling comment.... and this is really high maintenance, would be if they had one of those hand held luggage scales... lol

Totally agree with previous review. Premier inn in general have gone right down the pan - the restaurants are generally all very dated and the food and presentation is just awful. Nearly everyone looks about the same age with many signs of wear and tear. The price is not even reasonable. Breakfast was grim too - not even a coffee machine!! A couple of push down flasks. At the hotel a seagul had pulled out food from the bin which was there for two days. Clearly the staff didn’t see the need to clear it up.

Premier Inn needs a complete refurb. Very dated and very expensive. Worked out around £188 per night for below average accommodation. Food quality in pub servicing the accommodation was poor and the tables were all sticky. Best bit was breakfast but after 2x poor evening meals stuck to toast and fruit. Fine as emergency accommodation if desperate but definitely not a ‘go to’ place. Staff all very efficient and pleasant at Premier inn and pub (chain is Table Table). Issue sits with food menu, presentation of food, pub chain (sticky tables 🤮) and value for money of Premier inn. Was overpriced by c. £90 per night based on standard of accommodation.

Rooms were spacious, great food and great hospitality in the hotel. It was pleasant and quite over night stay with family and friends.

We had two nights of disturbed sleep due to noise from mechanical plant at the hotel. The air conditioning didn't work and the room was stuffy and too warm

Very comfortable stack and conveniently located to get to Edinburgh. Sadly, the site didn't have a car charging point onsite as some other sites do provide.

The staff were very helpful in responding to our requests on our arrival. The continental breakfast was simple but adequate for our needs and the evening meal was tasty and service was good.

We had a premier plus room. Very clean and looked newly refurbished. The room was spotless, had a coffee machine with complimentary drinks and chocolate. Also had a mini fridge with ice cold water. Beds comfortable and spacious. You are able to take drinks from the bar to your room. Also easy to book a taxi from the dedicated hotel taxi phone. Would stay again.

A disappointing experience to say the least. Stayed here 2 nights, and encountered several problems during my stay. The Free Wi-Fi did not work properly, and when paying for the Ultimate Wi-fi, was told “Error Message- authenticated, please try again later” retried this twice in the 24 hour period that it was paid for. Both times, this error message appeared and wasted £5 on the wifi. The lock on the bathroom door did not close all the way, and meant that despite it locking a quarter of the way, the door could still be opened normally. The white privacy blinds behind the curtains fell down when pulled the slightest bit, as they were only held up against the wall, and the pole was not drilled in. The restaurant had very nice staff at the dinner, and food was quite good. Though, the breakfast in the morning was a bit different. There was minimal things on offer in the choose your own area of the restaurant and a slight rude interaction by one of the employees, however, overall the restaurant was quite good. Mould was also found on the windows as seen in the photo attached. Overall, I expected more from the premier inn, having been a customer several times over the years, though, this time, there was a bit more of a disappointing experience.
