Surplage Hôtel Cavalière

We have been staying at the Surplage Hotel for our summer holiday. The place is on the beach, the view is incredible. The water is cristal clear. The hotel also have a pool. The rooms have all the same impressive view. The bedding is great. The food is very good. The bar has great cocktails and the service is good. Thank you to all the staff very welcoming We had a great stay! We will come back!

I read some of the negative reviews and cannot see any of the problems that were noted. The hotel is clean and beautiful, the view from our balcony was stunning, beds comfortable but more important than this the staff were amazing and could not help us enough. We were shown to our room and around the hotel on arrival and the director took time to speak with us. Quite honestly based on all the other hotels we visited on our trip around France this is by far our favourite and I believe is certainly deserving of it’s four star rating and would personally rate it a five star hotel. Thank you for making us feel so welcome.

We were very disappointed with the s o called delux room. the finishing was poor with damaged tiles in the bathroom but overall it was clean. The bed was interesting as it was made up of 2 singles covered by a large mattress...the under cover was dirty. The room bare no resemblance to the photos on *********** website..poor painting on all wooden surfaces and the terrace ceiling was showing signs of concrete erosion. No sun shades or comfortable chairs..On top of all that we paid E800 for 3 nights and decided not to either buy E20 breakfasts or pay for beach recliners..E25 or parking at E45 for 3 nights or even eating the evening meal due to the awful comments on Trip Advisor...Ouradvice , dont go there at that price..or at all..Note beach is very limited in size...but you could spend a fortune on the recliners..

on website check in is at 14:00 but they don't let as inside till 15:pm also check out is at 12 but they said to leave at 11 wich is not ok ,beacause it is exensive 1 night at this hotel and nobody expect to be treat like that,reception girls tot helpful ,not understand englesh enought to be there!!!

I returned to Surplage today with my Family, having myself frequented the hotel annually for nearly 50 years and I was excited to hear that the hotel was now under new ownership. Having stayed under the previous ownership we were intrigued to hear if and what changes had taken place. We were greeted by a friendly lady on reception who spoke good English and confirmed that the hotel was taken over by a new owner and that it was undergoing renovation and only some of the rooms had so far had a much needed upgrade and modernisation. I was encouraged to hear that the hotel had been upgraded to 4* as before it was more like a 2*.grade of hotel. She kindly escorted us down to anew dining area outside on the terrace which was much improved and had a much better aspect looking out over the beautiful bay of Cavaliere. We asked for a lunch menu for my wife and my children. Having ordered some aperitifs I asked again for the Children's Menu and was told they didn't have one - somewhat surprising for a 4* hotel !! I ordered a bottle of Rose from a limited selection. on the wine list and was told that the bottle I ordered was not available - again somewhat surprising that they had such poor stock of wine right at the beginning of the French holiday Season. The waiter typically suggested I take the next wine on the list which was more expensive- so I asked if that was his recommendation I should have this at the price of the one they had failed to stock up on- something any waiter in a 4* would have agreed to - but sadly not... we ordered sardines which when looking at the large Kamado BBQ that had been fired up we naturally assumed that being by the sea and costing Euros 22 per portion, that we each would have 3-4 freshly caught sardines cooked on the BBQ. You can imagine our shock to be presented each with an opened tin of sardines in olive oil and two pieces of of toasted baguette and a pat of butter .... although it may have looked pretty on the plate we really couldn't below that a 4* hotel on one of the finest bits of coastline on the Riviera was lacking such culinary talent to serve up a tin of Sardines and charge Euro 22 for a plate that must have cost no more than Euro 2-3 - really very disappointing - we had planned coming back again for a few more lunches but clearly they are still far from being able to offer fair selection of options including dishes for children and at realistic prices. the waiters were so slow and seemed totally inexperienced and no one once asked if all as ok or whether we wanted any dessert ... really very poor service and disappointing. at 3pm we enquired if we could rent two mattresses on the beach - we were told it would be Euros 25 per mattress which seemed exorbitant when at Club55 near St Tropez we rented Matisse for the entire day at Euro 35 each !!! As we left I returned to the reception to enquire how large the junior suite was and if it would accommodate a family with 2 young children - sadly the polite and fr

Very unlucky night over for me. In less than 24 hours, we encountered these difficulties: - we didn’t have power in the whole village for hours (thus no lights and no A/C available in the room and hotel) - terrible welcome/check in service (better check out) - no parking spot available at the moment of arrival (and no possibility of leaving the bag in front of the hotel: we had to carry the bag from the closest public parking to the hotel by ourselves) - the fire alarm woke us up at 7am (apparently for mistake) and stayed on for 10 minutes (and the stuff didn’t even bother to say “it’s not an emergency, sorry, everything is fine”) - we didn’t have neither hot or cold water for 6 hours (from 7 am until 12.30pm) terrible service about the reception, they didn’t even say sorry about the inconvenience. After going to complain 5 times about the problem mentioned earlier, I have asked the receptionist to meet me in the middle. They only offered us to stay in the beach for free. Usually hotels with beach don’t make you pay for laying in the private beach…. While the stuff/employees were really good and friendly. Anyways, the location is lovely. The rooms are clean and spacious. The view on the sea is lovely. Waking up and just jumping in the water in front of you is really nice. With a few management modification, the place could be worth much more! 💪🏼 I would still come back, hopefully having more luck!

A fantastic stay, very well organized, friendly and professional staff. Quality of management, of amenities, and what a pleasure to be right on the beach! Exceptional! Very family friendly, good food, especially the "catch of the day" fresh every day! As for the room : spacious, clean, and a breathtaking view.

Not friendly! Lifeless! Too many rules! Can’t even sit outside by beach to eat breakfast. Breakfast included but was a croissant and pain au chocolat in a bag! Lousy service once on beach. Waiters know we are on beach and can’t come by to see if we need anything, especially happy hour beverages.

The staff were great. The hotel is clean and right on the water. The hotel is in a quiet little village (not loud and busy as St Tropez or Nice) has cute little cafes and restaurants. It is only a 10 minute drive west into town for lunch or dinner by the marina. This hotel was easily located for day trips around the countryside. Looking forward to our return trip to this location.
