We were simply intrigued by this unusual place when we were looking for somewhere to stay near Leeds recently. We drove up the drive and followed the well signposted route to the ample, free car park near the main building in the grounds here. Check in was done quickly with a friendly chap who was happy to help us explain where everything was in this unusual hotel cum religious conference centre. I had a single room Room 37 on the 1st floor that could have been mistaken for a modern monk's cell. There was a single bed pushed up against the wall. There was also a tiny desk and chair & a tiny flat screen TV mounted on the wall. There was a small bedside table with a reading lamp. In the separate small, but functional bathroom the shower worked well, there were sufficient toiletries and some good quality, thick white towels. There were enough sockets and the free WiFi worked well Whilst there were no tea or coffee making facilities in the room, downstairs there were a number of machines for making your own hot beverage. I can recommend the hot chocolate just before turning in for the night. Breakfast was in a dining room on the ground floor and it was surprisingly good with a good choice of cereals, yoghourts, juices etc. and a counter bordering the kitchen where you could select the items for your full English breakfast. Tea and coffee was readily available. Even though we were only here for one night, we had everything we needed for a comfortable overnight stay. Oh, and whilst it is set off away from the hub bub of modern life, you only have to walk down to the bottom of the drive to find a large Wetherspoons pub and further right, down the road, a selection of pubs and restaurants.

High Bank Hotel

This was more on the lines of a down market hostel than a 2* hotel Our ”room” was a converted ”outhouse/garage” right in the back of a badly kept, rubbish strewn, dirty car park, full of overflowing bins, 2 fridges and a lawnmower . The numerous steps up to the reception, had loose, broke flags which were a trip hazard. The ”seating area” in the front of the main building was strewn with litter and beer cans. The room itself was clean, as was the linen. To get to the outbuilding, we had to exit a fire exit and walk through an unlit, unsafe pathway. Room had fridge but no light. The air extractor in the ensuite could not be switched off, so we all had to use earplugs in order to sleep. Shocking accommodation overall. The staff didn't care. This is not newly refurbished as described in the hotel details.

I stayed here on Boxing Day. Friendly prompt efficient customer service, a small but cheap cosy warm comfy room, with a comfortable bed, I slept very well, the hotel is in a quiet area, I would stay here again

Very close to university of Leeds, in the plaza& sky plaza dormitory area under the US, life skills are perfect, downstairs is the Nisa convenience store, there are many Chinese food, eight treasure porridge, instant noodles, red oil noodles, a little walk There are large supermarkets like Morrison, as well as KFC and McDonald's, which is very convenient! The heating can be but not very smart, the room is large, the socket is complete, there is a typec socket outside the usb interface, which is very suitable for Apple people! I hope everything goes well in Leeds, find the house I like, and live happily!

We booked this hotel because we were going to a 40th in Chapel Allerton. Not knowing the area, I googled hotels with parking in Leeds and this gem of a hotel came up. So glad we booked. We arrived and parked easily right outside our room. We stayed in the “garden room” which was really spacious. We didn’t have any children with us on this occasion but it would be suitable if you had a baby as there was plenty of room to play and also space for a travel cot. The bathroom had two showers (really powerful) and also disabled access which is unusual so this would be a bonus if you needed it. We came in late and didn’t need to disturb anyone as we had the key to the room and it wasn’t inside the actual hotel. Breakfast was a range of choices and very pleasant service both in the restaurant and also at check in/ check out. Next time we come for a night out in Leeds, we will most definitely stay here. Family friendly and I also noticed a piano! Thank you for having us xx
