I stayed here last night with my partner who had booked a room for a birthday surprise. There is a loading area outside whixh you can use whilst checking cases in etc and free parking just 5 mins walk away. The room was clean and cosy and lovely and warm. We had a balcony overlooking the estuary with a great view down towards the sea. Upin entry the hotel staff had provided me with some balloons, a birthday card and a small gift which was a nice surprise and a good touch!!! The Kinsize bed was very comfy and the room quiet with ood glazing. Staff without exception were friendly attentive and did their jobs well. From check in to check out we felt valued and well cared for. We had an evening meal booked which was delicious! It really couldn't be faulted so kudos to their chef and kitchen team. Our table was right by the window offering a nice vista of Looe lit up on an Autumn evening. There are a couple of other pubs etc very close by so evening options are there should you not choose to stay in the hotel bar. Last night we had a drink in it whilst a Singer entertained then headed out across the water to sample some other places. I would highly recommend this hotel - staying as a couple and would love to stay there again. Well done the Portbyhan Hotel team!

Excellent - the location on the West Looe side of the harbour just downstream of the bridge Excellent - the freshly cooked meals with a good range of choices Excellent - the friendly and helpful staff, particularly manager Mark Excellent - the general decor, clean, simple and welcoming Excellent- the room with very comfortable bed, very clean, large and spotlessly clean bathroom

Great location for beautiful Looe and surrounding area. Hotel, staff, facilities and entertainment was very good including the magician. The team at Portbyhan were friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Only issue we had was lack of water for a couple of mornings which was sorted out. We went with Jewels Tours from Kent and would certainly go again.

Great hotel and restaurant, room was amazing and food was second to none. Being gluten free, they went over and above to adjust the risotto to make it GF friendly. The hotel staff were all really friendly and understanding to the reason my mum and myself were staying, would definitely recommend here to anyone!

As a local, working from home and being deprived of internet access by BT, I had to work from the Portbyhan to get WiFi connection. The staff and management could not have been more welcoming and helpful. I really appreciate their help. The food too is first rate and cooked from scratch on premises - definitely a home from home.

Just returned from a holiday at this hotel with A and P Travel, our local bus operator. We had a fabulous room overlooking the river, which was immaculately clean, and well worth the little extra we had to pay for. The meals were excellent and a good choice each evening. The staff were very friendly and efficient. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone.

I booked months in advance. We got to our room and all was ok. In the evening all we could hear was the air conditioning. After we had been out and returned it was quite. Then in the morning it woke us up, probably 6.45am. Luckily we were on there one night, but it spoiled it. Staff were polite, but that wasn't enough.

Visited portbyhan for a boozy brunch which was genuinely great. Gill and James were enthusiastic and attentive and the food and drinks were great quality. We had steak and also the eggs royale which were top quality. Loads of choice on the bottomless drinks Inc lovely cocktails, wines beers etc. highlight was the passion fruit martini! They even had and even non alcoholic options (didn't try these) . Keen service meant really good value for the 90 mins. Lovely setting and great experience while visiting.

We had Sunday lunch today and I can honestly say it's the best in a long time. Superbly cooked choice of Meat and fresh vegetables oh and Yorkshire pudding to die for. The chef's we're on hand and extremely polite and helpful. All the staff we approached were very polite and attentive. Certainly the best in the area.
