Avonil Resort Yala

I stayed at this hotel during my visit to Yala national park and Kataragama, and it was just perfect. It's in a peaceful area, great for relaxing after a busy day. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. There's plenty of space, and the sitting area in the room is perfect for relaxing or watching TV. The bathroom is also quite large. The swimming pool is very clean and feels amazing after a long safari. It's a great way to cool down and relax. The food is delicious, especially the Sri Lankan dishes. The cook is really talented and made some great meals.The hotel owner, Mr. Sugath, is very friendly and helpful. The staff are also very nice and always ready to help. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a peaceful place to stay after visiting Yala or Kataragama. The prices are very reasonable, and the experience is fantastic.

Great location close to Tissa and 100% recommended for Yala or Kataragama trvellers. Rooms are spacious and well maintained. Very clean. Though the hotel located litte away from main road, it's well worth. Prices are also very reasonable. Exceptional food, very tasty and good portion sizes. Service also really good. Specially Shachintha. No complaints. We booked 5 rooms for two nights. All of us including kids enjoyed the stay very much.

We stayed here in order to do a half day safari with leopard-eye safaris (which was excellent by the way). The bedroom was excellent - good air conditioning, spacious, and quite modern. I took a can of fly-spray to get the mosquitos which was good - because of the high ceilings. The staff were great - and very friendly and couldn't do enough to be helpful - five stars for excellent service. The meals were great - and we thought well presented and much better than we expected. Very good value, and excellent service. Thanks to the staff. I wish I had left a bigger tip. Cons: 1. They cheaped-out on the chlorine for the pool. You couldn't see the bottom because it was cloudy, and the pool had hundreds of water-boatman in it. That's unappealing and although we entered the pool, my wife was squeamish about them, and wouldn't put her head in the water - they need to get this fixed as the pool is a major attraction, and it soured things a little for us. 2. We had a full shopping bag of washing they arranged to be done for us. It wasn't cheap - about GBP pounds 15. Later we found that the washer person had burned one of my shirts on the sleeve (melted it). God only knows how, but that was disappointing as it wasn't a cheap shirt. So... enquire to them and ask if the pool is free of water-boatman, and whether you can see the bottom of the pool (ie it's clear and hence clean), and then definitely stay here, but don't get your laundry done here!!! We’ve stayed in family room for 2 nights. The room was clean and big enough to accommodate 5 people. It also had big bathroom. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. They even organized a birthday surprise for our friend. Breakfast was good, we ate dinner once and it was delicious and very reasonably priced. The pool was a big plus.

A very nice place and excellent value for money. Clean, nice looking rooms with all amenities you need and good food. From the balcony you have the lake view and view of a nice paddy field. The owner Mr. Sudath was very nice, from the point of reservation he was attentive and courteous. The team is also friendly, helpful and polite. Mr. Sudath allowed us an early check in and also arranged a great safari jeep rider Kavindu for us to visit Yala. Definitely recommending for anyone visiting Yala.

Really lovely place , the rooms very spacious and a balcony back and front . Superb views from the back balcony over paddy fields to the mountains . Lovely dining room and delicious food and lots of it ! The staff very pleasant and attentive , great atmosphere . Swimming pool area great for chilling out .

Our family came to visit Katharagama from Kandy and booked Avonil Resort- Yala.This is really good place to stay.. Rooms are very comfortable and large. We stayed 2 nights and their staff was really helpful and friendly. Most importantly their Sri Lankan menu is really tasty, you should try out that as well..

LITERALLY THE BEST HOTEL AND SERVICE that I had in Sri Lanka. THE FOOD IS AMAZING!! We had the lake fried fish and my only regret it is that we did not order the largest size. It was so delicious!!! Our entire order was fried chicken, mixed noodles and boiled vegetables. Everything was excellent!! My husband got the chocolate milkshake for dessert and I got the salad fruit with a scoop of ice cream and it was so GOOD!! Our room was extremely clean, spacious, with an air conditioner, a balcony and we had great Wi-Fi! If you are looking for a place to stay on your way to Yala National Park this is definitely where you want to stay!

Camera veramente ampia e pulita (è enorme!). Staff gentile e disponibile nel soddisfare le richieste (abbiamo richiesto un early breakfast e ce lo hanno preparato e servito). Ottima colazione servita, composta da frutta, omelette/uova, pane e marmellata.
