The Bay

We stayed at The Bay for 5 nights, having spent 5 nights on the East Coast. Emilie, on reception and the rest of the team, were very helpful and spoke excellent English. We asked for a standard room and were happy with this, although we would have preferred a sea view in hindsight. Our room did have outdoor seating but with a view of the air con units and a fence. The food was good. The pool lounger area always seemed to have available loungers, but we noticed the beach loungers had towels left on them every day by 2 couples fir some time whilst they did other things, which was not acceptable! Our only negative point was that although smoking was not permitted in the restaurant area, smoke drifted from smokers sitting next to that area. So no matter where you sat, you had smoke in your face. The snorkelling and swimming with dolphins was brilliant, although more time snorkelling and less eating/ browsing the market eould have been better in our minds. We ate at Happy Raga Indian restaurant, which was about 20 min walk away, which was great! Also, at Flavours- across the main road, about 10 mins away. We used a supermarket to get beer, and this was very reasonably priced. All in all, we had a lovely stay and would recommend for a no frills, comfortable stay with friendly staff. A special mention to Sabine who always had a smile in the restaurant and Dorian.

What can I say about The Bay Hotel from the moment we arrived ( five couples and one single from the UK) which was late on a Saturday evening from reception check in to a late dinner nothing was to much trouble for any of the staff. The rooms had plenty of storage space and the king size beds very comfortable. If I could sum up it would be, Staff 10/10+ Friendly and extremely helpful. We came as guests and left as friends Food 10/10+ The spare ribs were to die for, as was the chicken pasta Location 10/10+ Excellent, from first thing in the morning to fabulous sunsets in the evening. Big thank you to all at the Bay for making our stay truly memorable

We were most impressed and enjoy our stay tremendously. The staff are attentive, albeit a little slow and grumpy at times, but it seemed that they were short staffed and this obviously made those working a little overwhelmed. The food was good with some nice options. We traveled as a family as I had my daughter and granddaughter with me and our accommodation with an extra bed was a good size and comfortable. We stayed for 2 nights and could have stayed longer.

Lovely guesthouse right on the beach. Emilie at reception helped organise activities in the area and she couldn’t have been more helpful. Views from room on top floor lovely. Just missed out on 5 star review because: Bed too hard and resulted in poor quality sleep. Safe didn’t close despite help the next time we opened it didn’t close again. Just one bottle of water not enough for 2 people daily given tap water not drinkable. Cockroach in cupboard on arrival which we threw outside and remained squashed on patio for duration. Room cleaning slow one day - mid afternoon when we wanted a nap.

Extremely charming small hotel - guest house, right on the beach. After booking accommodation directly on the hotel's website, we agreed and confirmed special requests via e-mail - two separate beds, exact location of the room... We were warmly welcomed with free welcome drinks. The room is furnished in a minimalist style, with all amenities for a comfortable stay. Regular daily cleaning in the morning. The half-board option with breakfast and dinner fully meets the needs of two adults. The offered menu offers a variety of combinations, with unobtrusive recommendations by very friendly and charming waitresses. Exceptional dining atmosphere on the terrace with a view of the Indian Ocean. A sufficient number of sunbeds and umbrellas around the pool, as well as on the beach, which is just a few steps down. We were pleasantly surprised by the kindness of the receptionist, who on the day of check-out allowed us to keep the room for free until the late afternoon transfer to the airport.

We have just got back from The Bay which truly became a home from home in Mauritius. The location is gorgeous - we went to plenty of other more famous beaches on the island and the beach outside the hotel was our favourite - it's not huge but it's real, not crowded and a great place to watch kite surfers. The staff at the hotel were great - special mention to Emilie and the other ladies on reception who were so welcoming and friendly, and even helped me to organise a vegan birthday cake for my husband for the boat trip. Whilst the hotel isn't huge, we were able to get loungers every day / when we needed them around the pool or on the beach. The restaurant had a good menu and food was delicious - the service was a bit slow at times but we didn't mind too much, being on holiday. The included breakfast was really great. In particular, we enjoyed the dolphin / beach BBQ trip (we swam WITH dolphins!!) and met a great group of likeminded guests who we ended up spending the rest of the trip with. We had a fabulous NYE party in the restaurant and on the beach which I'll never forget. The hotel isn't luxurious but doesn't pretend to be and I think it's incredibly good value for the price. The room facilities are good - ours had a terrace and great view over the ocean. The one piece of feedback would be that I wish the staff were a bit more flexible in the restaurant for hotel guests - for example, they only have two sittings, and they were often unable to seat us with our new friends if we had booked separately (this happened on New Year's Eve and we just sat at separate tables next to each other, as they wouldn't move the tables) and, when it rained, I asked to be able to sit in the restaurant to have a drink as the other covered seating area was full and I was told I wasn't able to. It's a small thing but a bit more flexibility would have been appreciated. Overall that didn't detract from our wonderful experience, though. Our time at The Bay was the icing on the cake of a truly brilliant time in Mauritius. I'd recommend it - and get chatting to people, it's a lovely group of guests. 😊

Cute and personal hotel right by the beautiful beach, with extra-ordinary friendly and service-minded staff and a really nice restaurant. Would highly recommend the Bay!

An absolutely gorgeous and personal little hotel right by the beach, with a really good restaurant! The Bay has an extra-ordinary friendly and service-minded staff who helped out with a bit of everything. Booking of taxis/transfer cars, boat tour on Christmas Eve where we would swim with dolphins, snorkle and see the beach where the locals go, as well as calling the health clinic for a sick daughter. We would highly recommend the Bay!

I went for a coorperate dinner with colleagues. First we waited for 2 hours for main course, the got wrong order we ordered chicken but we got pork nobody even communicate or apologies for the wrong order. One the table there was lizard 🦎 waiting around. I was very disappointed with the service not even choice for menu
