We stayed two nights before joining a Gate1 tour of Tunisia. I was a bit concerned about reaching the location, especially since we arrived around midnight. Our transfer from the airport drove us as close as he could, then walked us to the hotel. Afterward, we found it very easy to walk around the neighbourhood and return without problem to the hotel. The hotel is very well located. As you exit and turn right, you walk along a "mostly" pedestrian area with many shops and coffee houses. The street dead ends at the mosque (Muslims only), but this is where you enter the souks. If you turn left when you exit the hotel, you will soon come to a small square. We had the most delicious chapati here for about $4 ( definitely share!!) The hotel was built in 1820, remodeled in 2005, and still owned by the same family. Only nine rooms and LOTS of stairs even after accessing your room! Bed was firm but comfortable, water pressure in the shower was excellent, and there was lots of hot water. Breakfast served from 7 to 11. 7 to 9 breakfast is served in an interior room as you enter the property and ftom 9 to 11 in the courtyard off reception. Generous continental breakfast is delivered, but eggs are also available. In every way this hotel is delightful from the staff, to the building and rooms, to the breakfast. There is a rooftop area accessed by a staircase near reception. Highly recommended!
