Chital Lodge

Chital lodge is a very nice place, far away from the crowds. It is operated by Bishnu Bhusal who runs the place together with his lovely wife. Bishnu is also the guide who takes you in to the park by foot, jeep or by boat. He has lived here all his life and can tell you a lot about the animals and nature inside the park. Moreover the prices for safaris and excursions are quite cheap. If you want to have a real chance in meeting the true animals of Chitwan, my advice is to book Chital Lodge in Meghauli.

My stay in Chital Lodge in Megahauli, hosted by Bishnu and Saoru, was amazing. Although I enjoyed my walking safaris near Sauraha as well, I do wish I had simply spent all my time here near Megahauli. Less known and touristic, beautiful and just as wildlife-rich area of the national park. The safaris are guided by the host Bishnu who clearly lives and breaths the natural world of Chitwan. Bishnu and Manoj were amazing guides who put up with monsoonal rain, heat, and bugs to help me see many rhinos, monitor lizards, great hornbills, and, lucky enough, even a tiger! And way more. And as a huge plus, Saoru is another very kind host and a wonderful cook. The lodge is clean and pleasant, I added an extra night just to relax there. If I return to Nepal, Chital Lodge will be a place I revisit. Grateful to have found this beautiful gem.

Bishnu and his family were the most wonderful hosts and guides. Bishnu is hugely passionate about animals, and it was evident throughout both our jeep and walking tours. He is an expert - he knew so many details about each and every animal. The care and diligence with which he led his tours was also so abundant -- he took us to innumerous different spots throughout the national park and listened carefully to the animals to track their movements so that we could have some unforgettable animal spottings and experiences. He spent extra time tracking animals, late into the day, to ensure the most memorable experience for us. Additionally, these are the best people -- Bishnu and his family were so welcoming and friendly, we enjoyed our conversations with them immensely. Bishnu inherited the lodge from his father and the pride and passion he has for nature is so very evident, and it was this passion for nature he shared with us. We feel honored and grateful that this was apart of our travels. Thank you for such a memorable and spectacular stay. We can't thank you all enough.

We had a such great time at Chital Lodge. Bisnu and his family take such good care of us and we felt at home as soon as we arrived. The food was amazing and the safaris Bisnu take us in were unforgetable ! We fully recommend this lodge for anyone who is looking for a place to stay in Chitwan. The experience is totally worth it. We will miss the entire family, the beautiful environement, and the very friendly a**osphere

Bishnu and Saru create a home away from home with first rate hospitality and knowledge of the area. Although the accommodation is “rustic”, the beds are comfortable and the showers are hot. Each room has mosquito netting too. You feel like you are living a Nepalese experience. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided and since Bishnu worked overseas in a restaurant In Dubai, the food is excellent with large portions. We started our day with the village walking tour for which we learned about the flora, fauna and farm life (agricultural knowledge was great too) of the local area. The villagers were friendly and very happy to have you there. After we went on a jeep safari in a local forest. Bishnu took his time finding animals and sharing his knowledge. We had to work hard and be patient to see a wild rhino and baby as we needed to track them through the tall grasses. Without Bishnu’s experience along with the driver we would have missed this amazing experience. Just be mindful this is a rustic family experience in a beautiful village. This is not 5 star hotel but definitely a five experience.

Chital Lodge has plenty of sunny areas and seating as well as a kind of balcony area outside the room that faces the lovely garden and butterflies. The host and his family are welcoming and cook excellent food, and will accommodate your needs such as hiring a cycle, eating snails and duck at a typical Tharu family home, viewing beautiful sunsets, and a jungle safari. The prices are honest and without surprises. Wifi is strong for those who need it. Recommended for those looking to avoid typically touristy areas and to get a feel of real village life. Fantastic stay .. located in middle of nowhere but still service is above expectation . This has been my third visit and always the best experience so far . Thanks to Bishnu ( the owner & operator ) for delivering such exceptional hospitality .. we’ll be back soon
