Nautilus Lodge Motel

Terrific location - after driving for hours we could walk to everything and, while still on the main thoroughfare, it was pretty quiet. I'd ask in advance for a first floor room for that reason. The host couple were new owners - very responsive to minor issues and informed about the usual tourist questions.

Very welcoming and kind owners - I accidentally had booked the wrong night but they were very understanding and luckily able to accommodate me the next night with no issues. The room was really tidy and had everything needed for a comfortable stay.

Spacious immaculate rooms Great location 5 minutes walk to town Hosts John and Jane are friendly and helpful. They stored our bikes and luggage so we could look around town following checkout. Modern decor, room had a nice outdoor patio area.

Great motel experience and will return. Very pleasant helpful owners that take care of any needs. Rooms spotless and well resourced for best possible stay. Plenty of eateries cafes etc within walking distance and Short drive to Able Tasman Park.

Very happy with the location with access to Abel Tasman and within walking distance to town/restaurants/ stores. Spacious motel room & nice little patio that faced a side street but was blocked by bushes. Limited noise from upper room above. Was about 40 minutes from Nelson airport. About 30 minutes to Kauteriteri. We even drove up to Collingwood and was very doable. The manager was very friendly. Room was serviced daily, if requested. Laundry facilities were easily available.

Booked two rooms for four people. Messaged the 'host' (very loose term) two weeks before we arrived to ensure we had four beds. Received an email telling me that one room had two beds but the other room had a double bed that 'could be made into two singles.' Called and spoke to them again four days before we arrived to confirm. When we arrived at 2pm for checkin was told the room had been cancelled because my "credit card is invalid". I booked ten places through *********** during our 15 day trip and had no trouble with them or with fuel stops and meals. I hadn't even produced my credit card. I suspect rearranging the room was just too difficult. He did suggest I could try "somewhere else in town". I contacted the information centre and my story was not unfamiliar to them. When I found another place to stay I told my story, again, not an unfamiliar story. We did find two alternative places for the next two nights both of which were fantastic and cheaper than the Nautilus. As far as the rest of the review questions go, I didn't get a chance to find out! Fifteen days travelling around NZ and this was the only place to let us down and the only person I wouldn't want to deal with again. Pretty good odds really
