After reading the reviews I expected a lot more and at first I was very impressed but as our experience went on, there were a handful of things that disappointed and de-elevated the experience. Glad we stayed but won’t stay again. Accommodation - We paid $550AUD for a Sunday night, that included a glass of ‘bubbly’ on arrival and breakfast the next morning. The Room: beautiful, smelt absolutely lovely, bath on the deck was a standout to relax and watch the nature. However there was only one window we could open, in the shower, besides the two sliding doors. No fly screens at all so we couldn’t get fresh air circulating in the room unless we opened it up to the bugs, and there were mozzies. No ceiling fan. We couldn’t regulate our temperatures at night and alternated between roasting hot to freezing cold. We don’t like sleeping with the A/C on so just couldn’t get comfortable. The Food: Dinner: options were set at $75pp 2 courses or $85pp 3 courses. After looking at their menu online it looked like I could justify that price so went ahead and booked it. Only problem is that at the time of our stay their website and actual menus were very different, they hadn’t updated their website and what was listed online was the only basis of us eating there. I had rubbery overcooked scallops (4) for starter and a standard main. Between my dishes I ended up with an overwhelming garlic taste in my mouth. A chocolate torte with a white chocolate crème fresh for dessert, the flavour combination didn’t work, we couldn’t eat it. We had taken this one to our room and we flushed it. For $75 for two courses ($150 for two people) it was not worth the price. Highly disappointed. Breakfast: Again, on the day, the published website menu didn’t match the actual menu. I was looking forward to eggs Benedict on home made crumpets, the slight change to the menu here was that it was served on English muffins. Save the English muffins for McDonalds please. Instead I substituted for sourdough, that should be standard. The hollandaise sauce on my eggs was absolutely cold. There was no cracked pepper on the table, nor offered. Just making a few minor tweaks here would bring it up to Perth standard. Coffee was great. The Service: It was fine, that’s all, not next level, the staff suitably simply polite. Wry low touch which was appreciated. The pool and the grounds were beautiful. When we consider the price we paid for 1 night bed, breakfast and dinner ($700), compared to previous experiences at high end properties in Perth and the South West, we would have had a superior experience if we stayed at Crown Towers with Crystal Club access. Each to their own, but Amaroo was not for us.
