Absolutely fantastic! Cannot recommend Murchison Lodge enough. Just book it! Family of 4, stayed in December for 1 night. Had we known how wonderful it was, we'd have booked for longer, we didn't want to leave! Booked direct. Philip replied promptly and was incredibly helpful. On arrival he greeted us and showed us round the beautiful lodge. Everywhere was incredibly clean, beautiful views, homemade cake, well stocked - basically everything was so easy and provided and just what you want when travelling. Philip very kindly accommodated our very last minute request for an extra room, even though he'd already set up Koru room especially for our boys as a twin. Large bedrooms and bathrooms, all tastefully decorated. Breakfast was outstanding. Lots of home made delicious products. Nice walk down to the river and easy to walk in to town. Truly wonderful hosts.

Some people told us to skip Murchison as there is supposedly nothing there. We strongly disagree as the Murchison Lodge of Philip and Daphne is a wonderful place to stay, surrounded by rivers and hills. The Lodge is very homely and Philip and Daphne are wonderful hosts, very warm and welcoming. The custom made breakfast is fantastic (I am still trying to replicate the poached eggs 😉). Definitely worthwhile stopping by and slowing down to fully appreciate this place. We'll visit again if we ever get the chance.

The best place we have stayed during our whole New Zealand trip. The owner Philip is a great guy and takes care a lot for his guests. He was cooking a marvelous breakfast by his own according to our individual wishes which left nothing to be desired. The whole house has so many small things and items which really make the difference to all other places such as matchsticks in the toilet, hair shampoo and toilet paper of highest quality and many others. It is definitely a home away from home and whenever I have the possibility, I will return.

We absolutely loved this lodge! Phillip was a wealth of information and helped us have an incredible stay. The breakfast was top notch and the best of our holiday. The lodge was warm and welcoming and the views from our room were outstanding. There’s a guest refrigerator, and delicious snacks available anytime. I wish we could have stayed longer.

We had a really good stay, it is a lovely building, the room was nice, comfy bed and a good shower. The location is quiet and relaxing, with great views. The hosts made us feel very welcome and they did a really good breakfast, which included some delicious home made produce.

This is one of my most favourite places I have ever stayed. The hosts were wonderful and we really enjoyed our chats and their food is incredible. They really are absolute stars and the level they provide is immaculate. We felt so at home we never wanted to leave. Thank you

friendly and helpful host Nice garden and river view platform. We enjoyed in particular all the singing birds. Excellent breakfast with homemade bread and marmelade A little difficult to find as the b&b is off the road ( which makes it very quiet)

Spacious and nicely furnished property in a lovely peaceful setting. Our room had elevated and expansive views across autumn leaves and the river to the mountains - just a perfect scene. So impressed were we that we decided to stay an extra night despite the risk of forfeiting our tariff for the next night on our itinerary. Phillip was an excellent host and the breakfast was very good.

Such a warm welcome with everything we could have wanted accommodated. Breakfast was definitely one of the highlights with homemade jam and bread as well as espresso/tea. An honor bar with a number of drink options and a porch looking out on the mountains were also nice touches. The rooms had all the perfect touches from space heaters in the bathrooms so you were toasty getting out of the shower, drinking water, heated mattress pads, toiletries and the sound or crickets outside as you fall asleep. Book one of the upstairs rooms if available- there are so many windows and the views are lovely.
