Mandarin Oriental, Muscat

Excellent location, many restaurants Shisha bar nearby, also is in the middle of everything. To all attraction everything is within 30 minutes taxi including airport. If you want to do boat trip or see activity, maybe it’s better to leave closer to the port. Before us the extra 20 minutes on a taxi is not a problem. Very clean, very spacious, providing quiet luxury vibe. Breakfast is a little bit smaller selection than I expected, but the food quantity is good. The room is very spacious and comfortable layout, the best bed I’ve ever slept on in any luxury hotel. Only problem I had was in the room, they might need to do some quality checks, a lot of appliances does not work, for example the steamer didn’t Work, need the time to change it, also scale doesn’t work, it doesn’t read a matter for me but everything adds up just a small little disappointment. On the first night, there’s some really loud noises from the air-conditioning throughout the whole night, raise this in the morning, second day afternoon already fixed it. It was a quick fixing, but I would have expected the room wouldn’t have such noises when I check in. The spa is amazing!! highly recommended to do at least two hours treatment, this is definitely one of the best spa experience in any hotel. Servicing overall is very good, specially the room cleaning stuff super friendly, the ladies in the spa also very nice, everyone on the servicing are super friendly, helpful. Just a front desk reception with a little bit of colder attitude. Facility wise is enough, good size pool not the biggest but is enough. Unlike most of the luxury hotel,This MO hasn’t got their own private beach, it’s a beachfront property, however they have a small sessions on the beach with hotels own beach chair for the guest. Is not a usual larger luxury resort, only 150 rooms, I will say the facility is okay but I would expect a little bit more. Also, there is no information to pre-book any activities or any special activities going on in the hotel unless you ask. Pool size service m may be need a little bit of improvement. The stuff is very nice to lay down the towel the moment you reached the pool or the beach area. But this level of hotel should automatically bring some water, ice bucket, or sunscreen available to the seat. They are sunscreen only laying around at certain spot and you need to stand and use it. Overall experience has been amazing, also it is top three best and luxurious hotel in muscat. But for this price everyone will expect a little bit more. I’d definitely rate 8.5/10 of the 3 days stay here.

The suites at Mandarin Oriental, Muscat exceeded expectations. The space feels intentional and calm, with refined Omani details woven into a modern layout. Natural light floods the living area, the bedroom is genuinely private, and the bathroom setup is luxurious without feeling overdone. Sound insulation is excellent, and the overall atmosphere is serene and polished. Service is discreet but attentive. It feels like a proper luxury suite, not just a bigger room. My two kids have a great time at the Kids Club too 🙏

Great service and location. Peaceful place along the beach. Food is great and have tasty drinks. Perfect place for vacation. There are some good restaurants nearby, which could make you feel like you’re at home.

It destroys the image of mandarin hotel. The bedsheet was overused. The service was not good and the breakfast was very poor

Amazing, couldn’t fault there service at all, relaxing, clean and all you need

I'm a luxury travel advisor who traveled here with my husband and our two children for our holiday. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning and conveniently located close to the airport. Because it sits on a public beach, the experience feels less like a private resort and more like a hotel that’s integrated into the local area, which may appeal to travelers looking for something less secluded. Unfortunately, the stay did not live up to the Mandarin Oriental standard we expected, particularly when it came to service and coordination. The concierge experience was a major pain point. We reached out multiple times, both before and during our stay, to help plan activities and experiences in Oman, but emails and calls routinely went unanswered. When responses did come, they were often delayed or incomplete, making it difficult to rely on the concierge for planning. Because we traveled a long way to Oman and were counting on the concierge to help us navigate the destination, this was especially disappointing. We ultimately left feeling like we missed out on fully experiencing Oman due to the lack of communication and follow-through. Additionally, the club lounge, accessible through certain suites, fell short in both food quality and service. Overall communication across the hotel felt inconsistent, and the property appeared understaffed at times. We heard similar feedback from other guests during our stay and did raise these concerns directly with the hotel.

From the moment I arrived at the Mandarin Oriental, Muscat, I knew I was in for something special. The level of service was absolutely exceptional — warm, attentive, and always professional. Every staff member I encountered went above and beyond to ensure my stay was seamless and memorable. The hotel itself is spotless, with immaculate attention to detail in every corner. My room was beautifully designed, blending elegance with comfort, and the views were nothing short of breathtaking — overlooking the serene mountains and the city’s picturesque skyline. Breakfast was a highlight each morning, with a rich variety of delicious options that catered to every palate. From fresh local delicacies to international favorites, everything was prepared to perfection. The facilities at the hotel were everything one could ask for in a luxury stay: a world-class spa, a state-of-the-art fitness center, stunning pools, and several dining options that offered an exquisite culinary journey. Overall, it was a flawless experience that exceeded all expectations. I left feeling refreshed, pampered, and already looking forward to my next visit. I would absolutely love to return and stay for a few more nights — one visit simply isn’t enough.

Beautiful interiors, everything thought through to minute details, very much enjoyed our stay

Beautifully designed property, new so everything is sparkling clean and it has been constructed to a very high standard. All the staff were really nice and friendly, the hotel was very quiet. It’s located on a quiet beach, with a nice promenade to walk/jog along and a few restaurants along there too. A couple of cons- our bath didn’t hold water so wasn’t useable (it was leaking water). While we are also completely aware that it is an important religious celebration, the pool area was basically a construction site the day before Ramadan while they drilled in decorations- this could have been done a bit more thoughtfully rather than with workmen there (and drilling) throughout the day.
