Great location. Friendly owners. Comfortable room and plentiful breakfast. Located on main street leading to temple and inside Niomon gate. Less than 5 minutes walk to Hondo with plenty of shops outside the door. Approximately 1 mile to Nagano main station and a few minutes to a smaller station.

This traditional Ryokan is hidden away on the main Nakamise dori up to the Zenkoji temple - which is literally just 5 minutes away. That said, you couldn't hear any noise from the street & we had a front room. You can leave your luggage if you arrive early & go explore. The owners are.lovely & couldn't have been more helpful with our requests during our stay. We had a large tatami room with western beds - all very comfortable. Lovely warm room with kettle, fridge, TV & toiletries in the shower/spa bathroom. The Ryokan provides breakfast & evening meals. They also have an onsen spa. Couldn't fault any aspect of our stay

Lovely traditional family run ryokan in a great location. Delicious traditional breakfast was included and we enjoyed the location near the temple and many nice shops. Two people in our group are vegetarian and they kindly adjusted the traditional breakfast accordingly.

Our first experience in a ryokan so we had no idea what to expect. The staff were very friendly and answered any queries we had. We were travelling with another couple and we opted for the deluxe room with tatami area but requested western beds as opposed to futons. They were quite hard but that seemed to be the case in all the other places we stayed too so maybe that’s the norm. The bedroom and tatami room were as warm or cool as you decided but the hallway, toilet and shower/wet room had no heating so were pretty chilly. The western rooms, where our friends were, were all warm as recently completed. We opted for both breakfast and dinner for the 3 nights as we weren’t sure what would be in the area. Both meals start and finish early but we had plans for each day so this wasn’t an issue. The food was excellent and plentiful and the serving staff were lovely.

Top location for staying at Nagano city, it’s right next to the famous Zenkoji temple. Many good restaurants within walking distance. Guest service is top notch as well.

The Ryokan's owner and wife had been very friendly and welcoming during my stay, with prompt reply to my inquiries even before my stay. Having traveled to Nagano straight after a red-eye flight, I really appreciate the fact that they allowed me to check-in earlier on that day. The Ryokan is located very near to Zenko-ji Temple, allowing you to avoid the crowd to visit the Temple in the early morning. The Ryokan is also a 20min simple walk away from Nagano station. The Ryokan is equipped with modern facilities while preserving the traditional Ryokan vibe, ensuring a comfortable stay. The food served were delectable and hearty, with an impressive variety. I definitely see myself coming back again to stay if I travel to Nagano again.

This is such a beautiful historic property. It’s within the Zenkoji temple area and a fantastic find. We had the Japanese style room. Beds are hard but we are getting used to them. Staff are so lovely. This is a lovely family business. I would love to come here again.
