Hotel Mar Bravo

First, beware that the rooms are tiny. Not small, tiny. But, they are clean. Note, there is a lot of street noise. Till 1 am. My biggest problem was the reservation. Bottom line, I did not get the room I wanted or thought I reserved. I was put in the smallest room in the hotel, ocean front, but ridiculously small. They were able to move me to a slightly larger room, but not ocean front and on the lowest floor. The new room was $40 less per night. However, even though they put me in a cheaper room, they charged for the more expensive ocean front. They would not give the $120 credit. I will of course go thru my credit card company to secure the reimbursement. Note, they would not return an email and simply tried to ignore the problem until I really forced the issue. They also made up a story about having to disinfect out room. That sent my wife over the edge. I would avoid this hotel. They are not worth the risk. Also, we asked for a couple of restaurant recommendations. They said it was against their policy to give any other than their own restaurant.

Beautiful hotel in a perfect location. This place is right across the street from the beach. We had one of the rooms with a balcony. It was so relaxing to wake up every morning and open the door and hear the waves. The room was a good size and had all the modern conveniences to make for a great stay. The hotel also has a restaurant attached and it has very good food. The staff is very friendly and helpful. When we return to Nazare, we will definitely stay here again.

We recently visited Nazare and had reservations at Hotel Mar Bravo. Due to a miscommunication with staff, the twin room we reserved was not available. A double room would not work for us. Fatima, the manager, went above and beyond to accommodate us. She found us a suitable room at a sister hotel close by. We would like to commend her for her professionalism and kindness. Although we did not end up staying there, the hotel looked lovely and is in a wonderful location right on the beach. We returned that evening for dinner in their delightful restaurant while we watched the sunset over Nazaré.

Excellent beach hotel with super friendly staff and the perfect location! I would stay again!! The lovely lady at the front desk offered us complimentary water, coffee and pastries when we arrived. She also provided us with beach chairs and towels. It’s the consummate beach hotel.

The girl at the reception is rude and unable to perform her duties efficiently. One of the main criteria for us in choosing a hotel was the availability of parking, since we arrived by car. The hotel sent us information in advance that there are several parking spaces near the hotel where we can park the car, check into the hotel and then put the car in the parking lot. When we arrived, there was nowhere to park near the hotel, there were several places where barriers had been installed. It was not easy to find a place to stop, my sister went to the reception to find out about parking. The girl at the registration desk said that we should remove these barriers ourselves and park there. When my sister asked her to do this, she showed her dissatisfaction with all her appearance, but she removed only the part of the barrier (the rope) and left. It was still impossible to park the car, since the barriers with a concrete base occupied part of the parking space. My sister and her child had to move these heavy barriers themselves. When we finally parked and went into the hotel, I said in the reception that such a situation was simply unacceptable, to which I listened to a lot of rudeness on her part, and the reproach that everyone always understands that the barriers need to be removed, and this should be done by the client himself. This was the first time I encountered such rudeness in a hotel. It’s good that we had already traveled a lot around Portugal, talked with the Portuguese, and were already delighted with the country and its people, so we perceived this hotel simply as a bad exception, and the impression of the country remaind very good. The rooms also leave much to be desired. The armchair in the room was dirty and it was impossible to sit on it. The water in the sink did not drain, so we constantly had to turn off the tap, let the water drain, and then continue to wash. The flush button in the toilet was broken, so every time we had to press it several times to get the water to stop flowing. I don't recommend staying in this hotel if you don't want your mood to be spoild.

Loved this hotel. It is situated in the front and we had ocean views. The room was very comfortable. Everyone was very nice and anxious to help in any way. Ate in the restaurant at the hotel a few times, and it was delicious. Visited this town to go see the big waves, and it was a highlight of our trip.

Wonderful little boutique hotel. Our room and bath was small, but adequate for our three night visit. We upgraded to have a balcony room, which turned out perfect for us. We were able to sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine and watch the square and the ocean every evening before dinner. The girls in reception were very friendly and helpful. The housekeeping staff was also very helpful. The male waiters were also helpful and friendly. The restaurant is fabulous. Good breakfast each morning and the night we had dinner was delicious. We left our car in the parking garage, free, the entire time we were there. We walked everywhere, even up the pedestrian path to Sitio. We will definitely stay there again.

Don't be concerned, as I was, with this hotel's 3 star rating. It's a very good property. Squeaky clean, probably recently renovated property, and very nice, friendly ladies at the front desk, good, breakfast. Everything was above the 3 star rating expectations. Parking garage for this hotel's guests is within 5 minutes walking distance.

We stayed in Mar Bravo for a couple of nights early December and I must say, what a great experience it was. The room had a sea view and was big enough for the two of us with all conveniences including a safe, heating and AC with a plentiful supply of tea or coffee complementary from reception along with cakes and other edible goodies. The staff were fabulous and exeptionally helpful and could not do enough for you. The restarant attached to the Hotel was probably one of the best in Nazare, the selection of fresh seafood and local dishes was to die for and was reasonably priced. All in all, I would highly recommend the Hotel if you are staying in Nazare, the location, the staff and the restaurant made for an exceptionally enjoyable stay, thank you to all at Mar Bravo.
