Kurialacherry House Alleppey

Staying at Kurialachery House with Jacob, his family and team was wonderful. They were amazing hosts and the home cooked meals were delicious. The homestay is next to the waterways which the staff take you to your accommodation on a riverboat. There is a lovely walk through the rice paddi fields to the local village where the children love to interact with you. Over all a great experience! Maurice & Marlene Kissick New Zealand

This was our second stay with the last one being 5-6 years ago. Simply put, this traditional homestay by the backwaters is beautiful and serene, one of our best homestays. It is located midst of lush greenery and farms, away from hustle of city life. The property also has its own plantations which are fun and knowledgeable. Rooms are simple, well equipped and have all the needed amenities. Jacob, his family and staff are very warm and welcoming. They go over and above to keep their guests happy. Food is just amazingly tasty! Everyday meal was different and made in traditional way. Most ingredients are locally sourced. Highly recommend this place. We will be back again.

From the first contact with Jacob over email everything went very smoothly. He answered promptly every time and also arranged for a taxi to pick us up at our resort. The home stay is situated right by the water and rice paddies and has three rooms. We did a morning canoe tour which was absolutely stunning when we saw the backwaters waking up. We also did a lovely two hour sunset trip in a beautiful boat. One in the staff also took us at an interesting walk through the village. The food was absolutely fantastic. One lunch they made a special treat for us with a three course meal served at special occasions as weddings. Fabulous! All the staff are very kind, courteous and helpful. We could not recommend Jacob’s, Elizabeth’s and their beautiful baby’s place more.

We 100% recommend this property. We stayed for 3 nights and had a really relaxing stay. The food is outstandingly good - breakfast, lunch and dinner cooked by very talented local women. The hosts Jacob and Elizabeth are very welcoming and kind, and Jacob showed us around town for an excellent boat tour including local church, museum, and other sights. Sreekumar, another staff member, took excellent care of us for the whole stay, also showing us around the village, and going so far as to climb up and chop down some coconuts when I mentioned it might be nice for a drink. The property has a beautiful garden with hammocks and ***y flowers, fronting the river. Our cottage, the traditional room, was very comfortable and clean, with AC, Balcony, and a private patio with lounge chairs and a table fronting the river. The property is about 45Min from Alleppey, and Jacob organised a houseboat for us for the following destination. Thank you everyone at Kurialacherry house for a beautiful stay on our holiday!

Even though our stay was pretty short, we could really enjoy staying in this wonderful place with its own history. The staff was very friendly and helpful, also the food was one of the best I've tried before, plus you can ask to make it less spicy if necessary. Personally I would like to recommend a bout trip to see what the actual Backwater is.

This well maintained ancestral house is located in a serene and calm environment blessed with the beauty of the backwater lakes at the entrance, beautiful lawns, chirping birds, lovely food and warm people. I had an amazing stay for 3 days recently and I can never forget the soulful connections made on the hammocks in the lawns of this lovely place . The shikara rides and canoeing provided help you explore some breath taking views and if you are a nature lover you will find it hard to come out of the blissful state of inner peace.This place is truly addictive and you won’t feel like ending your trip!Highly recommended for solo trips or to stay with family or friends!

The most beautiful place, most lovely staff, delicious food, a beautyful garden and a very need and clean house with an amazing view. The morning walk was unbelievable, in the middle of palmtrees and rice fields. A must visit

A delightful place nestled amidst the backwaters on an island. Jacob and Elizabeth are such warm hosts that you immediately feel at home. The property takes you back in time and disconnects from the rigamarole of daily life. The food is prepared by local women who conjure great local delicacies. They also helped us making special food for the baby. Sreekumar , the coordinator, took us through the village on a walk, which is a must do. It’s a quite, tranquil place in which you find what Allepey stands for . It’s next to the backwaters and they arrange a boat ride for you, do do it. Overall an amazing Homestay.

We had a delightful stay in a historic building on the family villa. A yard full of colour and life. A birdwatcher's paradise! The room was very comfortable with AC and fan, private balcony, semi outdoor private shower adjoining the room. Everything nice and clean! The hosts Jacob and Elizabeth were warm and welcoming and a wealth of knowledge about the history and life on this land surrounded by rice paddies and fisher people. Sreekumar attended well to our every need and took us on an informative walk around the village and his home. The food is prepared by local women and was all simply delicious, highlighting local cuisine ! The hosts are very involved in community work and local sustainability projects. If you are looking for a beautiful, authentic homestay, I highly recommend Kurialacherry House
