Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Newport News South, VA

It was a nice motel. There is a pool here. The service was nice and all of the employees were nice. It is a pet friendly environment. They have a nice little breakfast in the morning. The room was clean and a nice size.

I would avoid this one at all cost. While there on a recent family weekend getaway we were very much displeased. I booked our room on 3/7/24 and arrived on 3/8/24. We arrived at about 7:30pm to check in and drop off our bags. The room was in poor condition but thought we would get by for the two nights we would be there. Went out to visit with family and returned around 11:00 pm. We had just returned to the room and was going to get changed. While taking off my shoe I saw something moving on the dirty carpeting. I hit the bug with my shoe. I then picked the bug up to clearly see it was a cockroach. I took the bug along with my wife and son and headed for the front desk. The front desk clerk was in the hallway near my room when I appoached him and showed him the bug. I asked to be moved to another room. He agreed. We went back to gather our belongings. When we walked out of the room the front desk clerk was at the entrance to the room right next to the one I had a problem staying in. He said we could move from 103 and into 101 which was right next door and closer to the pool area (which was not very clean). When he opened the door the carpets were so dirty I refused to enter the room. I asked him if I could photograph those carpets. I told him the carpets needed to be cleaned. He said that carpet cleaning does'nt work and the carpets need to be replaced. At about 11:30 I asked for a refund and was told I needed to contact the mgr. at an email address I was given.

Go to check in the only person there was outside smoki g so we waited, hotel is dingy and dirty, cant open bathroom door without hitting the toilet, paint chipping huge bug on floor, this place is an embarrassment to Radisson.

Our room was clean, the two beds were comfortable, there was plenty of closet space. The sofa bed was very uncomfortable, basically a thin pad on top of wire mesh. There were two TVs, but only one remote worked. There was a slight mildew smell in the corridor, but not in the room. The breakfast was good; eggs, sausage, French toast, waffles, muffins, juice, milk, coffee, and cereal. The location was not great (not a lot of places to walk to), but easy access to the interstate.

Massive stains on the carpet poor shape of bathroom with shoddy fixes. No toilet paper holder/broken.Slope of the floor by bathroom very uneven ( old repair??) asked for an E Mail of my receipt. Still waiting Staff seems overwhelmed.Second bad room for Country Inn and Suites. Probably will never go there again

The hotel was in a good area near many stores, the beds were comfortable. Unfortunately the carpets in the room and elevator were absolutely disgusting. The rugs smelled and had huge stains everywhere the elevator smelled like a mixture of urine and cigarettes. The staff were nice and they had great breakfast selection. I would recommend if they cared to clean the carpets and elevator.

My room’s carpet was stained and needs to be replaced. The curtains were wrinkled and broken so they didn’t close properly . There is only one ice machine and it’s on the first floor. Didn’t know that until my second day there.

This room should not have been rented to anyone. The carpet was not cleaned; missing light bulbs, Caulking need around bathtub & sink; window curtains not on rod; closet door attachment off the track ( been this way for months); towels torn and only minimum provided; breakfast menu at a minimum, no microwave, stale buns, only one fruit. no apologies given for conditions--Mgr said its been that way for months.

We checked in on 10/19/23 and the floors looked like they were swept but very dirty. The beds were clean. i got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and the toilet had overflowed so we had to move rooms around 5 am. We had no help to move and had to walk through the toilet water to move to the next room.Also went to use the pool and the floor was dirty and alga was all over the floor. Did not feel comfortable using the pool. At checkout we asked about a discount and the gentleman said that he couldn't do that and we would have to email the owner. I emailed the owner and have not heard a word from him. We went ahead and stayed because my wife was having some health issues and didn't feel that she could handle moving at that time. I would not recommend staying here.
