Pigeon Island Beach Resort

Very nice and super friendly hotel to stay at the beach for a cpuple of nights We spent here 2 nights as part of a 3 week trip around Sri Lanka. Really a very nice hotel,super friendly staff specially f&b staff mr.manoj . He gave good service and working hard to give their guests a wonderfull time. Nice restaurant with a wide variety of food which is all well prepared, We enjoyed our stay very much!

Unfortunately we had a bad experience there( we had big problem with water in our room, stuff tried to fix it, but it didn't work. We supposed to stay a 3 nights but we left after 2. Everything looked very old( Good thing we had a great food and very friendly cook. My advice for the hotel, improve up keep!!!! It's a great location, very sad to use all your guests.

A very disappointing stay we had here. Not only being almost alone in this hotel, but moreover it was in a terrible state which made my stay very sad. There was no upkeep at all, leakage in the lobby, beach was in poor condition. Wifi only in lobby but it doesnt work. A lot of insects in the room due to poor doors/windows that had cracks and holes. After half day there was barely water pressure which resulted into no water in the evening when we wanted to shower. At night/evening hostile stray dogs occupy the pool area that leads from room to the lobby. Calling the reception didn't work either as the phone lines didnt work... So we didnt have water until morning. Next day they tried to fix but again after a while it was again down. We were so udderly fed up we half way told our driver and travel agency to rebook...also for our driver the conditions were poor in comparison to elsewhere. He told us that during the war the hotel had suffered a lot, possible hence the bad upkeep. Only good points: staff friendly, especially restaurant staff, rooms were nice (deluxe room). Food was not bad though.

Woow super hotel nice view front of the hotel and 30meters to beach ⛱️ beach also very good and clean. The food is very delicious 😋 and yummy thanks chef for the good foods and specially f&b staff Mr.manoj he is a very kind and nice smile good person actually I like to smoke shisha and Mr.manoj promote the shisha is very good we have 4 flavoured. After me and my brother tooked 1 shisha mango flavour is very very good 👍 . He gives good service for us. Keep it up Mr.manoj. high recommended

Pigeon Island Beach Resort was supposed to be our romantic accommodation in Nilaveli for 3 nights. Upon arrival we quickly found out that the name Robben Island Prison Complex seemed more a more suitable name. The lobby was filled with people using their mobile phones while sitting on cheap uncomfortable couches. It felt like the country had just become entangled in an armed conflict and these people were trying to get the last plane tickets out of the country. We then found out that the hotel lobby was the only place with Wifi acces. Within 15 minutes we were sitting on the same couches, planning our escape. Our checkin process was interrupted by a British tourist claiming he wanted to cancel his reservation because the resort was not meeting his expectations. This appeared to be a sign on the wall, but I was still hopeful. After the checkin we walked outside to our room and were greeted by a hideous smell, that reminded me of a dirty zoo. We quickly found out that te place was infested with monkeys, trying rob the guests of their food, like a bunch of Russian street mobsters. The facade of the hotelroom had the allure of cheap roadside murder motel. After opening the door and expecting one or two dead bodies, the dirty stain on our bed, wobbling ceiling fan and 1970’s tv came as a relief. The pool area and bar looked as if they were abandoned in a hurry, more then a decade ago. There was no furniture surrounding the pool, except for the distopic twoseater shown in the foto. The pool bar looked more like a makeshift surgery room then a bar. By the time we had arrived at the beach, the smell had become less strong and we could finally smell the ocean. The beach area itself however seemed like a very sad place. There were some old banana leaf umbrellas and the extremely old and worn beds had no cushions or anything. That didnt even matter because there were only a few and they were all occupied. We decided to leave and made clear we were ready for our checkout. The hotel staff offered a complementary dinner. But the flickering light and tasteless dinner area did not change our minds Overall, the place felt like the owners had given up on the place and did not care about maintenance. Every aspect was worn and run down. Ive visited hospitals with more charm then this place. Save your money, there are plenty of good alternatives for this beautiful beach town!

Our stay at the Pigeon Island Beach Resort was fabulous and The head Chef Charaka Madushana made the most amazing food we have ever had here in Sri Lanka. The prawn curry was delicious. The desserts especially - were just incredible and the chocolate chilli one made especially for David my husband was just fantastic! Thank you Chef Charaka for making our stay so extra special. In fact all of the staff like Mr Banda were just amazing providing everything we needed.

We would like to return and enjoy the Ocean! Hotel is clean, dishes are tasty, staff is friendly. Manager Nishal speaks English wonderful, he explained a lot about Trinkomali. There are several monkeys nearby, it was a pleasure to watch them sometimes. Swimming pool suits for children and adults.We appreciate that the hotel is situated at the first line to the ocean. We enjoyed city-tour on tuk-tuk and diving

I made direct reservation for 2 nights. The food was not tasty at all. Welcome drinks was too sweets and noting welcome to us. All towels are full of dirty and blankets are with big holes. The chare on balconey was drocken. F&B staffs are not professional. Overall disaster experience and wasting money. Finally I let from the hotel next day.

My stay here went very well, lovely property located nicely in the proximity of the Fam nous pigeon island, and super beaches. An but fully functional property with decent facilities. Would certainly recommend the place as the team Nissanka the Chef and his team work tirelessly to make your stay a memorable one. Do make a visit and enjoy the hospitality and the beautiful location.
