Trimstone Manor Country House Cottages

We had a lovely stay at Trimstone Manor! The rooms were spotless, the beds were super comfy...we had a heated swimming pool right next door & peacocks in our back garden! Rhianne was lovely & was happy to help with anything we needed - she does lovely breakfasts & afternoon tea too! I would definitely return & I would recommend this place to anyone.

Loved it. We have been to Trimstone 3 times now, as it’s so central for beaches, the South West Costal path, and the Wonderful Valley of the rocks. Combe Martin, Woolacombe, Lee Bay, Woody Bay, Mortehoe, and Ilfracombe are all nearby too. We stayed in an apartment the last 2 visits that has everything you need for a stay. With excellent support from Rhianne, with whom, nothing is too mum trouble. All the staff are friendly and very helpful. There is an indoor, heated pool. And over 3 visits, we’ve always had the pool to ourselves! And a games room where we had a go at table tennis. I would say that the apartments and hotel are great value for money. The atmosphere, is super calm, the extensive gardens can be explored at leisure. Lots of great restaurants, and pubs serving great food aren’t far away. Highly recommended, if you’re keen to explore the area. Or, just a relaxing break. We will return for sure

Firstly I’d like to say the woman who was the manager-cook and I assume bottle-washer was very helpful and nice. However I cannot write anything else glowing. Firstly as it doesn’t do evening dinners, only breakfast, it’s not a hotel - it’s a B&B. We were given the family room - filthy. They should remove the old cobwebs (the dust layers on them was a giveaway as to how long they’d been there), the carpets were disgusting, I made my children keep slippers on, the curtains need fixing (and changing), you need to clean under a bed as when we arrived there was an old sock under one of the children’s beds! Clearly a vacuum doesn’t see the corners of the room and a basic floor sweep is done only. The photo is the view as you walk out of the room. They had a personal party that Saturday, we had to go out and tell people to move on As they kept our young children awake (the bedroom door is one of the cheap MDF temp doors) their guest were sat right outside larking about. It’s extremely tired and needs a lot of money spent on it. It could make good money if rooms were gutted, redecorated and refurnished and kept clean! However I’d never set foot there again.

The Manor has a lot of character - it feels like a large country house without being too grand. I stayed in a large room with a fantastic view out over the grounds and the valley beyond. The room was very comfortable, clean and the ensuite facilities were excellent. We were very well looked after, being helped with travel advice before arrival, with our bags when we arrived and throughout our stay, including advice on local attractions. The breakfast was very good and was served in cosy surroundings - a great way to start the day! The hotel was easy to find and the location is very convenient, being not far from Barnstaple, Woolacombe, Ilfracombe and Exmoor. All in all staying at the hotel really helped us to enjoy our first trip to North Devon.

Just returned from a weeks stay at one of the cottages at Trimstone. A lovely family break surrounded by the beautiful Devon countryside. The cottage had everything needed for a self catering break, the swimming pool was fantastic, we had it to ourselves most evenings. Our two teenage boys really appreciated the pool table and table tennis in the games room and often chose that rather than spending time on their phones (even though the WiFi was excellent). The staff were really friendly and helpful and the hotel gardens were lovely to walk around and sit in, especially with the added bonus of watching the peacock roaming around. Would not hesitate to back.

Spur of the moment visit to the area and the accommodation was recommended by tourist information. Lots of interesting history about the manor and area

Lovely historic manor house set in its own grounds in North Devon. Surrounded by lovely countryside and close to the best beaches in North Devon., The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and very comfortable. There were a couple of emus in an enclosure and beautiful peacock roaming the grounds . There is plenty of parking at the hotel and it is situated about a quarter of a mile from a main A road which makes getting to places very easy, The cooked breakfast was very enjoyable.

Lovely quiet place great for relaxation, lovely grounds, clean and tidy rooms, some interesting old artifacts from the building milling past. It also well positioned, giving access to several picturesque seaside towns and local attractions.

Beautiful secluded location with great views. The hotel has so much history and I enjoyed looking around the site including seeing an old watermill wheel within the pool room. It was very peaceful but not too far from the coast and towns we wanted to visit. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our family room was spacious and well stocked with coffee/tea etc. I loved the addition of a fridge. My boys loved playing in the field, seeing the chickens and other resident birds. The games room was a great time for all the family. We only stayed a few days but were able to fit in time in the pool which was lovely and warm.
