I honestly wish we could have stayed here longer!
From the outside, this place is very unassuming. The area around it has mostly older buildings. But once you pull into the gates, it's clear why this is a highly rated hotel. Complete with welcome drinks, a luxurious pool, and a very attentive staff, this hotel was the perfect oasis before a rugged stay in the Amazon.
There are quite a few dining options in Lago Agrio, but you could also relax and enjoy the on-site restaurant. The room was probably the nicest we had during our 3-week vacation. I would recommend it in a heartbeat.

We stayed in Gran Hotel de Lago - Lago Agrio one night before traveling to Cuyabeno. We were pleased with the staff, rooms and amazing gardens. The pool is super large and the food delicious. They are following all COVID protocols, but one member of the staff told me everyone is already vaccinated which made us feel even more comfortable. Will definitely come back!

El buffet de desayuno estuvo muy rico. Pero tengo una queja en cuanto a limpieza en áreas comunes como la piscina y el gimnasio. Estaban muy descuidados y habían bichos en el piso en todo lado. Además, el servicio de HK era muy invasivo en las habitaciones porque ellos entraban a limpiar incluso cuando estábamos en nuestro horario de desayuno, sugiero que la limpieza se realice una vez que el huésped salga del hotel a hacer sus gestiones. Pero fue lindo ver todas las aves que habían!
