Five of us, travelling together as a group visiting the Horton Plains National Park, stayed at Plains Green Bungalow from 17th to 19th November 2022. We were warmly received on arrival with tasty welcome drinks. After we had a tasty lunch, we were led to our rooms at the cottage close-by and the baggage delivered. The property is surrounded by their 15 hectare, beautifully maintained farm cultivated with veggies and strawberries. The view from the reception and rooms is out of this world, overlooking their valley farm and distant mountains. The sky was clear and blue during our visit, although it could be misty at times. There are eight spacious, clean, and comfortable rooms, each with heaters, comfortable king size bedding, writing desk, comfortable sofa chairs, clothes cupboard, kettle, tea, and coffee adequate for a comfortable stay. The beds were equipped with thermal blankets that kept us warm through the nights. Four rooms are in a self-contained building, complete with sitting and dining areas as well as a separate TV area. This is where we stayed and was quite close to the reception area. A fifth room is more secluded and offers more privacy. Three more rooms are in the main building that also houses the reception, dining, and kitchen. The bathrooms were spacious, clean, and neat with clean toweling. It was equipped with hot and cold water as well as other toilette requirements. The reception and dining areas were well equipped and tastefully furnished. We ordered each of our meals from a set menu. They were served with decorum and were tasty. Western and Eastern as well as Sri Lankan meals were available. Although there was no liquor, we could consume drinks that we brought along. WI-FI is available. The staff that included the Training Manager Navod Fernando along with Muru, Ilango, Seelan and Tiron were helpful, courteous, attentive, and obliging attending to our smallest need. We were pampered during our stay. We do plan to return soon.
