Having stayed at a "Moxy" location in San Diego, I was happy to book at this location in Oakland. Some may not enjoy the "concept" of the Moxy hotels, but I find them to be a fun, quirky, adventurous option for weekenders/shorter stays than a more "traditional" hotel.
Location was good/felt safe.

Our stay at the Moxy was really nice. The staff was nice and welcoming. The common spaces like the lobby, bar, area are really nice and a good place for working remotely. We found the area relatively safe with lots of nearby coffee places, bars, and restaurants. The Fox and Paramount theaters are also nearby and Lake Merritt.
Our only negative thing to say is our room climate control was not working. Staff did come try to problem solve and brought us a fan but it was a bit stuffy in our room.

Nice hotel. But no ice machine anywhere to be seen. Got some from the bar but just the shaved type. Upon our check out we were told there was no valet to retrieve the vehicle. So we had to walk with luggage to the lot where it was parked. I paid 45 dollars for this.service just blows.

Rooms are like a prison cell. Stark, no closet, no good place to sit other than the bed. Staff were fine.

This hotel is very hip and fun. We really enjoyed the decor and the vibes. Would definitely stay at a Moxy hotel again!

I absolutely loved my stay. This will be my new home away from home. The staff at this hotel are 5 star service providers. I highly recommend!!

Staff were careless, I was standing at the check in area and no one would greet me, employees were just talking, after about 10 minutes one of them approached me to help me check in, but the I was already too upset

Great stay for one night. Was in town for a show. Check-in was smooth and quick. Room was clean. Employees were nice to interact with. Will stay again next time I’m in town.
