Casa Picva has it all: beautiful location and surroundings; welcoming and informative hosts; history literally at every turn in this very charming house and a fantastic level of comfort and care shown to each guest. Very simply, our stay at Casa Picva will remain in our memories. Everything about it was memorable, and we are sure that we will revisit some day. It's a very special place that we are so glad to have booked and enjoyed.

A serene setting in a Museum like home right next to the fortress wall entrance! We stayed in a room that opened onto the grass terrace with majestic views of the valley east of Obidos. Room was comfortable and the Host even gave us homemade Nata and Cappuccinos the next morning. Great value !

One of the nicest places I've stayed in Portugal. Located in a quiet place with great access to everything Obidos has to offer. João, the host, was wonderful, accommodating and helpful with everything. The whole house is beautifully decorated with old world charm and a lovely garden with views of the surrounding countryside. Our bedroom was simple yet elegantly appointed and everything was kept very clean. The hot water takes a bit to warm up but other than that it was perfect ... and then it got even better. The breakfast in the morning offered everything I would want for breakfast and more. The breads, pastries and homemade preserves were fantastic. I would come back to Obidios just to stay here again. This is the place to stay in Obidos! We were treated like royalty by Ana, who made us feel very much at home in this magnificent old house in the thick of the old town, yet so quiet and peaceful. Our room was a suite, with fire place and comfy seating, and access to a lovely garden. Thank you Ana, for a lovely breakfast, and lots of conversation! I highly recommend Casa Picva for a visit to Obidos!

We (family of four, one 10-year old, one 12-year old) stayed one night at Casa Picva in April 2023. It was absolutely brilliant. The house is perfectly located just outside the city walls of the amazing town of Obidos allowing easy access into the town and all the sights. We were able to park right outside, and the owner, João provided us with very helpful directions to find the house quickly from the motorway. The house itself is a hidden gem, packed full of character and interesting artefacts from around Europe, many dating back hundreds (and even thousands!) of years. João introduced us to all of them, and it was fascinating listening to his historical knowledge. The rooms were cosy, functional and comfortable with good beds, bathrooms and lots of added amenities. We also purchased breakfast which was a fantastic buffet of local produce. Altogether staying with João and Ana at Casa Picva, and touring the incredible town of Obidos ended up being the highlight of our stay in Portugal. Thank you very much!

Ideal place with a kind, efficient, Intelligent host. From the bus station, an English guy who owns a local restaurant called the owner of the place to find out where the location of the room was. The owner of the house was waiting for us at the entrance to the house, and welcomed us, of course, he served us cherry liqueur when we were inside. When he heard that I had lost my eyeglasses, he brought me a pair from his house that might fit me, when it didn't fit me, he called the only pharmacy in the village to find out if they had a large number of reading glasses, He brought us a map and showed us the places to visit...recommended a restaurant, etc.. In short, kind, which makes you feel like you're at home.I recommend spending the night outside the wall, as inside with luggage is a nightmare. This accommodation is outside the walls but near an entrance gate to the old city. So all the attractions are within walking distance. There is an adjacent parking lot. The place itself is tastefully decorated, with antique furniture with a special atmosphere. This is a private house on the ground, the room has an adjacent garden where there is a table with two chairs and an ashtray for those who smoke. . The room itself is very large and clean, everything is in order, and everything is listed with clear instructions for the user, such as the wifi password, turning on the air conditioner, etc. The bed is large and comfortable, with two chests of drawers, and there are enough sockets in the apartment. The bathroom is also large and comfortable. A good bath, good water flow, and hot water all the time. Breakfast at 9 euros per person is worth every penny, a rich buffet meal. See pictures .

Casa Picva is truly a hidden gem. We arrived by car at Casa Picva which is situated just against the walls of medieval Óbidos. Narrow winding roas led us to the B & B. When you enter the gate you find yourself in another world. The house is decorated with antiquities and you see old details everywhere you look. João welcomed us with a glass of Ginja, a local sour-cherry wine. Our room was cool and very clean, the beds were comfortable, bathroom also very clean. Free coffee in the main building. There is a garden with fruit trees surrounding the building. And then breakfast in the morning. Absolutely wonderful! Fresh and homemade products such as lemon curd, cheeses, ham, jams, fruit, bread and warm Portuguese pastries called Pastei de Nata. Everything prepared and presented with so much care. We really felt at home here. Bonus for us was the annual Medieval Market. I'll recommend Casa Picva to anyone who visits Óbidos.

We spent to nights at Casa Picva and could not have asked for a better experience! The room was cosy, the breakfast was plentiful and delicious and we very much enjoyed meeting and chatting with Joao and other guests. The location is directly outside one of the side gates to Obidos but with easy parking! Obidos is best explored slowly and the ability to stay after the day crowds leave makes it an extra special experience. If you are looking for a truly wonderful place to stay don't look any further than Casa Picva!

Wat een geweldige plek om te overnachten. De hartelijke ontvangst van Joao. Trots vertelt hij over het huis en de historie. Je waant je soms in een museum maar de aandacht van Joao voor de gast is ongeëvenaard. Prachtig uitzicht over het binnenland en binnen een paar stappen binnen de muren van deze middeleeuwse stad. Heerlijk vers gemaakt ontbijt met zelfgebakken brood, vers fruit en natuurlijk de zelfgemaakte pasteis. En dan die ambiance met een gastheer die overal een prachtig verhaal bij heeft.
